That alt ending would've had me in the theaters

I read about the alt ending and that's actually how I thought it was gonna play out when i saw the police lights at the end

Loved the film, two observations:

1 the moment the maid entered their room and apologized to Chris. Who told her that Chris blamed her for messing with his phone? Why should Rose tell her bout it? This should have been the last clue for everyone to realize that Rose is in on all of it

2 not all non-blacks are racists. Being black and hating whites is racist as well. Pretty sure that most under-40 year old whites around the world aren't racist. The older generations...yeah that's another story

At first the whole flash thing didn't make sense to me but now it does. Sunken place is dark, they shut the main characters eyes when he gets sent to it. The flash is just a flash of light into the sunken place, that's why they revert back for a little bit before going back to being white.

No, their consciousness is still intact, they don't technically "swap brains", just insert a piece of the white man's consciousness into the black man and that white consciousness CONTROLS the black man. It's a deep metaphor when you think of it.

But, the fail-safe is the brainwashing of that black consciousness, due to such a flash to wake that consciousness up, because it's still there. The whole reason the "grandpa" killed himself is because no matter WHAT, that piece of that white consciousness will be forever be in him.
