I agree with everything except this. TV shows like "True Detective" season one and "The Knick" show that serialized shows/movies are better when there's one consistent vision behind them. I would prefer it if JJ "owned" the state he left the universe in. Too many different voices behind it and it really turns into just fan fiction.

I think I would actually have a higher opinion of TFA if the exact same plot were expanded out as a cable or Netflix series, rather than as an "Episode VI" sequel. That roman numeral in the title gave it a lot to live up to.

The original Trilogy had 3 different directors for "Hope (Lucas)", "Empire (Irvin)" and "Jedi (Richard)" the diffrence was Lucas was still the mastermind and noting went on the screen without his approval. So I'm fine with the new trilogy not being all JJ. He will still be Executive Producer on the future Episodes. Rian Johnson who's doing Episode 8 did "Looper" so I actually think he might try to bring something new to the table. Episode IX is going to be directed by Colin T. who did "Jurassic World". I like JJ, I think he did what he needed to do. At the same time I was disppointed in him cause he didn't break or bring new ground to Star Wars. Even the concept art was taken from Lucas and Ralph Maquire from the original trilogy.

Again you all can see my review in the spoiler thread. I praised the movie but kept it real that JJ and company brought nothing new. Even Kylo lightsaber can be found in old Star Wars mythology. Say what you will about the Prequels, Lucas brought new planets, new ships, new enviroments, the whole 9. All I saw in Episode VII was X-Wings, Star Destroyers and a New Death Star (LOL @ Star Killer which is just Death Star in reverse but the name was taken from Lucas original name for Luke and the main character in the game "The Force Unleashed)

NO way its on par with the 4-5-6...

I have it below and ahead of part 1-2...but to say its just as good is not true.
Only thing i really liked about it was finally seeing Yoda vs Palps and grievous...

Alot of the movie felt rushed to me...they didnt set up the original trilogy that well...
i enjoy the last hour of Sith way more than any scene with the ewoks in the 3rd original personally

fukk outta here, who wants to see the millenium falcon get blown up.
They need a whole prequel movie to explain the millenium falcon, breh.
The millennium falcon is the most iconic spaceship in history.
You can blow up the falcon.
How could you not want to hear that engine roar where it sounds like you on a space roller coaster.
You really want to see that and not hear that engine and see the lines of the falcon...
Y'all are deprived,.....

Y'all got to much chucky from fresh in y'all.
Y'all are like the kids who never read comics and saw wolverine vs Spiderman as a one shot and lost your mind and frame of good imagination.

I said in a previous post that basically the Yoda/Emperor fight saves the movie because its the duel everyone wanted to see...and ewoks were lame but its Lucas story to tell..i still think ROTJ is enjoyable as a whole despite the ewoks...

The coli is blindly defending the new star wars movie because of John Boyega. You guys are super obsessed with race. The movie was flat out bad.
Nah, wouldn't say it's bad. It's not as great as the box office sales would have you believe but coming from the prequels, there was no way in hell it would be worse than those.
