I'd agree if there wasnt 30+ years of Star Wars media managed to be wildly successful without clinging to the original trilogy. Say what you will about the prequels

it has its share of fans
while being criticized for having very little in common with the original trilogy (i personally disagree)

TFA is a fanboy film for the adults in the room I still enjoyed it for what it was.
