No doubt, he had a great career.

But when you look at Durant.

There is Nothing Durant does that Melo can't do. Melo should have been that guy
Melo's undoing was chasing the money and not working out the best roster situation. Had nothing to do with on the court. The Nuggets should've beat the Lakers in the WCF. They choked away at least two of the games on late mistakes. That showed that Melo could be the top player on a winning team with the right pieces around him. He just fukked up by forcing NY to gut the roster before going there and for not signing a three year contract when Wade, Bosh, and Lebron did. Instead he wanted the security of the five year contract which cost him the chance to team up with other stars.

Exactly.

A guy who wants to prove he's one of the best uses that as motivation.

If you go into any leadership position using only one method to try and motivate people you are going to fail.

It’s your job as the coach to figure out how to motivate and get the best out of each player on the team. Insulting people as a first impression aint gonna work for many.

George Karl does have a point in a way.

Melo underachieved

He could have been so much more.

George Karl is a small midget backcourt non big using goofie. That thinks he was going to win with his scheme. Then takes his frustrations of his flawed scheme out on players.

George Karl is the low iq low quality perimeter shot only based white boi player coach. Who never succeeds till he gets a black superstar or both. Then thinks he was winning because of his schemes. When he was only winning because he ignored he had superstar black players.

George Karl only had a job because he was a good Ole boi.

And Detlef was a helluva defender? Luka literally has to be hidden on Defense and nikkas is ok with that, but wanna crucify Melo for being soft on D….. can’t make this shyt up…. :childplease:
Here's the thing......

Melo came out in the '03 draft with one LeBron Raymone James. He was ALWAYS gonna be measured against Bron. Regardless of LBJ's strengths/weaknesses etc, no one ever questioned his effort, especially early on.

Luka? I'm not sure there's a good comp for him at his age. People would say James Harden though Luka plays better in the postseason....however if you look at guys closer to his age? I'm not sure there's anyone outside of Trae Young since they were drafted back-to-back. From that perspective, most people pick Luka. If Wemby was older and San Antonio was dominating the West...blocking the Mavs....then the Luka questions would start.

No one agrees with George Karl… Detlef and Melo don’t even belong in the same sentence comparably speaking…. MELO>>>>>>>. and it ain’t nowhere near close
I don't mean that they are on the same tier...more about the negatives of Melo in a vacuum.

A different coach saying that might be viewed more favorably but Karl clearly hates Melo for some reason. Maybe he felt like those Nuggets teams were his best shot at a ring and blames Melo for keeping them from it. That's the only reason I can imagine as to why he STAYS talking shyt about him.
