It’s the authoritarian principle. Trump and his incompetent crew of Smithers types and ghouls have repeatedly said the courts can’t tell them what to do because they believe Trump is a king, so "checks and balances" don't apply and the courts should just rubber stamp whatever Trump wants. So if he brings the man back, then it means the judiciary actually has some say so over what the executive branch can and can’t do

Trump’s also a narcissist, so bringing him back would be an admission that he fukked up and he’s incapable of ever admitting that he fukked up
