It’s all fun and games until they try to cover something up and you’re on the chat. You either stay there or you pull out before they accuse you of also being in on the conspiracy.

This was arguably the best of the worst options he could have done.

What? The best option he could have done was post the unclassified unsecured evidence that he was provided immediately as a journalist that is supposed to have an ounce of integrity. What he did is the opposite of journalism, it's a disgrace to the field and goes against his responsibility as a journalist.

Keyword. You dont know what “unclassified” is as a non-senior government official is.

Hes not a government official, he was provided information directly from the administration as a journalist tf are you talking about? It's not like he hacked the system or something. Its literally his job to report. If you're scared of retribution you shouldn't be a journalist, go be a political entertainer like faux news commentators

I would argue it's journalistic malpractice to willingly exit that chat, and Goldberg definitely left out of fealty and deference to the powerful, which is a complete inversion of the journalistic ethic. The best rationale I've seen is that he left when the strikes took place because he figured the chat would be bushed anyway, but that doesn't track with his actions since. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Fidelity to power which is the opposite of journalism.

The Atlantic was added to the Signal Group by accident, they didnt send him information purposefully. The White House also didnt say anything about classification until today so erring on the side of caution was smart.

I dont think he’s defending the admin becsuse why post the story. He is just being cautious, the admin has already made it clear its prosecuting anything they deem outta line so I cant really blame him for not release the whole thing. It could change though.
Brother, they have secure channels they can communicate these things. Actual government secure channels.

Them doing it on Signal should show you they don’t believe this is classified information, and these folk testifying today that it is not, should have given him the clearance to air it out. He shouldn’t have left.

He left because of his fidelity to power which our journalist institutions have done since watergate. Goldberg should be criticized for failing his journalistic duties.

This is an example of how being in your mothers basement getting indoctrinated by various sparsely viewed political channels for years can distort your perception of reality.

The moniker smooth mind has never been more fitting.
