Trump is old but isn’t the old guard. He’s the evolution of the tea party. And the people behind MAGA are not old guard Republican leaders, that’s why there’s so much fukkery. And McConnell hung around because he was effective at stopping the Obama agenda. He opposed that MAGA shyt and then rode the wave. It’s not about who has the “title” it’s about who is cultivating the ideas and communicating it. The Democratic Party strategy is still developed top down by 70 year olds.

The most effective legislation Biden pushed through was crafted by people who were in their 40s or younger. It was a bunch of warrenite ass people but people of that age demographic are not in charge of democratic messaging.
I see what you’re saying.

His decision to reject corporate PAC money seems more like a calculated move to boost his populist image than a real effort to break away from corporate influence. What makes this more obvious is his actual legislative record, which is still staunchly pro-corporation. He consistently votes for tax cuts for businesses and supports deregulation, so this all feels more like a PR stunt to play into anti-establishment vibes more than a genuine shift in his policy priorities. His symbolic "anti-corruption" bills are all performative too.

In a district like he held in Florida, where he's already deeply entrenched and secure, these kinds of symbolic gestures are far easier to pull off without any real risk to his seat.

That's exactly how I feel. Gaetz should've been a smart corporate politician whore and accept the money. What's worse, doing legal briberies for corporate money or advocating corporate policies for free? :scust:

He'll more than likely have a nice consulting job somewhere in FL

@kaitlancollins

Mike Rogers this am on Fox: “People have lost faith in the FBI. And they don't even know it. Somebody like me? I can restore that faith.” We reported last night that Trump is considering putting Rogers + Kash Patel at the FBI together, in attempt to please both Senate Rs and MAGA loyalists.

@kaitlancollins

Trump has planned for months to fire Christopher Wray if he was elected, but in recent days he has struggled to find a compromise of selecting a new FBI director who can carry out his agenda — while also being Senate confirmed. https://cnn.com/2024/11/21/politics/trump-potential-plan-fbi-shakeup/index.html
