The Pete Hesgeth rape report seems pretty credible. There's so many allegations and so many nuances about that kind of thing, but the police report as filed seems credible, but I can see Monterey local PD passing on that case. Not enough evidence.
People think it's way easier to get rape charges filed against someone than it is, the whole "woman scorned" thing. I know personally one of my friends was accused of rape during a hotel after party, police showed up and cleared it up within minutes. But, not before he was handcuffed and thrown against a wall. He put himself in a bad situation, but the accuser, when things got that heated, just admitted on the scene, I made that up. There was no rape.
