The US kicked a dying horse by imposing sanctions, but the economy was already in a recession due to oil prices (the article states this). It also states that the economy couldn't recover when oil surged again because of sanctions; but, an "economic boom" in Venezuela would not improve the QoL for citizens due to rampant corruption within the incumbent regime. An obviously intelligent person wrote that article, but it's pretty biased.

The guy who wrote that article is probably anti-Chavez. He cites a Council of Foreign Relations article, which is where the BLOB resides.

I agree the US sanctions didn't cause Venezuela's issues but you can't downplay the sanctions either.

Normally this is leaked to the press after the fact. It being on camera is WILD.

When you understand from the point Putin doesn’t believe what anyone says, you have to do it in front of people (see: Helsinki) then you’ll know why it happened.

See Trump’s plan was to ambush him into submission on the world stage and sign the deal, then let Russia do as they will. But the back part of that plan was to show Putin that he would use this agreement to back out of helping Ukraine and split the money so he could start the Sovereign Wealth Fund.

Problem is Putin’s plan is to take it all by hook or crook, word to Bill Browder. And to show the world that Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America, is on his side and he will use him to destroy his enemies.

Trump is just stupid, Vance is enamored by wealth and breaking free of the shackles of the Tech Bros, and Zelenskyy is a man of character.

Zelensky got kicked out the White House.

Here's what happened inside the White House after the Oval Office shouting match:

Trump huddled with his key advisers immediately afterward inside the Oval.

According to a White House official, Trump consulted Vance, Rubio, Bessent, etc. That was when Trump decided that Zelensky was "not in a place to negotiate." He directed Secretary Rubio and his national security adviser Mike Waltz to deliver the message: it was time for Zelensky to leave.

The Ukrainians were holding nearby in a separate room. (That's standard for foreign leader visits.) Typically they reconvene for lunch. But the Ukrainians would not be dining at the White House. As the prepared food sat nearby on carts in a hallway, the Ukrainians were instructed to leave.

The White House official said the Ukrainians wanted to continue the talks. But they were told no.

Zelensky left shortly thereafter.
