As someone in the UK, how is the mood in the US right now? I’m sure MAGA types loving it but has the average American realised the gravity of the situation in the US I.e It’s likely America has turned a course it will struggle to turn back from.
the mood is that most people's lives are no different today, than they were a month ago. yes, a few thousand gov employees are getting fired, and i'm not downplaying that for anyone on a personal level; but this is a 330 million person country. that hasn't caused any kind of blowback. and that's the only tangible action trump has taken so far
trump and elon are acting like huge fakkits, but most people just tune that out. americans aren't gonna really sit up and take notice until trump/republicans shut down the government in march, if they can't pass a budget
you ask if people grasp the "gravity of the situation", well, the majority of people aren't/weren't happy with the economy right now. so the country's waiting to see if trump improves it, or tanks it
and this shyt with zelensky; the average american couldn't find ukraine on a map. putin taking a piece of it is not high on anyone's list of priorities. we've seen too much money flow to ukraine to be "shamed" into caring about it
