It’s a sad state of affairs. I’ve been doing a deep dive of the Chinese economic model and aside from their historic achievements, the way they have managed to build immense wealth while keeping capital in check is nothing short of amazing.

They have managed to create a system that leverages the best elements of a market economy while shielding the public from the inherently selfishness and destructive nature of capital class. :wow:
Would they be able to do it in a multi racial society like America though?

Elon is one evil son of a bytch. He could end world hunger and still be a billionaire. He bought an election and what is he doing with his influence? Gutting social programs. He could be using his influence to make sure everyone has healthcare, end the homelessness problem, make real strides to combat climate change or even reignite NASA but no, none of that is more important to him than to embolden racist and to make billionaires more rich.

Trust me, the pushback he will get is what he caused. He wants to be on the spotlight when the general public is fed up with greedy billionaires is bad timing, especially when he feels untouchable after bringing to get Trump back in the White House.

GM just got out of the Robotaxi business by shutting down Cruise.

Autonomous driving was aways bullshyt as most of us already knew. Without FSD, Tesla is just another EV car company getting its lunch eaten by BYD and traditional
auto manufacturers in the EV market.

The MYTH of them having FSD. That stock is a pure Wall Street scam. Someone is jerking that price around whichever direction fukks the most investors. Someone said their market cap is 30 times Ford, but if you scaled the profit per vehicle sold they’d be worth under $20 a share. Todays price movement was 1.5 the market cap of Ford…in a DAY!!!!

No Whammies!!
I bought a PHEV sedan a couple of months ago. Ever since Tesla S was first released I used to say "my next car will be a used Tesla S".
Now, years later, if someone gave me one for free I would immediatly sell it.

Plus, now that I have a PHEV I'm especially mad at Elon (or rather the rest of the industry that followed him) in putting down PHEV technology and going Full EV before it was ready. We SHOULD have cars out there with 60mile EV range and decent gas range on top of that, but all the rumors of car like that either don't pan out or don't get released in the US.

Meanwhile companies like GM that were already on track to make better PHEVs abandoned what they were doing and tried to go full EV....JUST because the7 wanted to follow what Tesla was doing.

Elon Musk's Tesla lobbied UK to charge petrol drivers more

Elon Musk's electric car firm Tesla pushed the government to make petrol car drivers "pay more" in the days after Labour won the general election.

Musk, the chief executive of Tesla, has waded into British politics openly on social media, predicting "civil war" and criticising prime minister Sir Keir Starmer.

But behind the scenes his firm was trying to persuade the new government to extend a policy that would boost his firm's profits.

The company called for the mandate to boost electric car sales to be extended to lorries, and said electric vehicle (EV) subsidies could come from charging people buying petrol and diesel cars.

"The government should ask those still choosing to purchase a new polluting vehicle, to pay more," Tesla's European boss, Joe Ward, wrote in a letter addressed to roads minister, Lilian Greenwood, in July.

The letter, released under a Freedom of Information request made by the EV newsletter The Fast Charge, shows that Tesla "applauded the Labour Party's strong position [on] decarbonisation of the energy system by 2030, growth and net zero".

The praise came just weeks before Musk lashed out online at the UK government over the summer riots.

The BBC reported in September that Musk was not invited to the government's investment summit partly because of tensions over his political interventions.

Since then the billionaire has become the indispensable right-hand man to incoming US president, Donald Trump. The surging value of his stake in Tesla since the election there has underpinned an incredible rise in Musk's wealth.

The UK government is currently consulting on changes to a key measure, meant to encourage sale of electric cars, the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate.

The ZEV mandate requires carmakers to sell a set number of EVs per year, and if they cannot meet their targets, they have to purchase credits from other EV makers who have sold more of the lower polluting vehicles.

UK carmakers are pushing for the policy to be diluted, arguing customers are not yet buying EVs in high enough numbers.

The letter from Tesla lobbied for the opposite policy, saying the ZEV mandate "must be protected and strengthened".

Tesla stands to become a major beneficiary of the ZEV mandate as it can sell surplus credits from its imports of its own EVs, made in China.

Tesla also lobbied the new government for the UK to lead on the "scale up of autonomous vehicles", and offered a demonstration of the companies' vision.

I bet it had a lot to do with Musks connections in DC. phevs take care of range anxiety and most people are going to be gas free on a daily basis.

@smalls2672
I don't think I'll ever get over the anti immagrant crowd cheering for the guy from South africa who came here illegally, made a fortune through government subsidies then bought an election so he could take away their benefits.

2/72
@smalls2672
The elon dikk riding is crazy.

Here you got a billionaire immigrant who receives billions in corporate welfare, sitting on this app making threads about how he wants to take away your grandmother's social security.

And all you idiots are like, "Yes, sir. Give me another, sir. Thank you, sir."

How ppl, especially conservatives, aren't flipping out and demanding this guy to be deported is beyond me.

3/72
@RandyWKirk1
It would be harder to get over if everything you just said wasn't such nonsense.
1. Very few R's are anti immigration. You left out illegal
2. Elon's companies have had very few government subsidies and Elon is against all such subsidies. However, he's going to take those if his competitors are eligible.
3. Elon didn't buy an election. He used his resources to get folks to register and vote.

4/72
@smalls2672
The dikk riding in this comment craaazy.

Lets look at trumps LAST interview. Never mind the previous 10 years. He said he wanted to get rid of the 14th amendment. Or at least gut it and end birthright citizenship.

And that's funny is that his supporters that like to claim they're constitutionalists support it.

But does that sound like he's in favor of "legal" immigration to you.

When he lied and said hatians were eating the pets and were illegal. After it was rightly pointed out, they were here legally he said, "not in my eyes"

So when Republicans sit here and say they are for immigration just not "illegal" immigration.

I really have no idea what the fukk they're talking about.

Especially when you consider the man responsible for the policies (Stephen miller) says publicly we have "supercharged" our DENATURALIZATION plan for 2025.

5/72
@burgytsunami
Perhaps there are more serious issues that you need to get over first.

6/72
@smalls2672
Caring about my grandparents' income when they can't work anymore is a pretty high concern on my list.

@jerrytaverna
Soros?

8/72
@smalls2672
Soros is worth like 7.2 billion. Elon is worth 354 billion.

Soros is literally worth 1/49th of what elon is.

Elon is everything you think soros is.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

@Vraghubir1

1. There are approximately 48.6 million retired social security beneficiaries in the United States.
2. More than a million veteran's recieve benefits every year.
3. A promise for your vote is a contract, based on that contract these things should not be even discussed, and harm is already caused from the failure to uphold the agreement and emotional distress it has caused that it's even bring discussed...

@NoCRTinSchools
I don't think I'll ever get over the lefts total unwillingness to acknowledge that there is a difference between legal and illegal immigration.

19/72
@DominickWyze
I think the pulse on the right has and probably will be “we like immigrants that come here and become successful and more Americanized”

It tracks, which is why they are on board with Vivek too.

20/72
@veryangelic
Those united states gov't subsidies didn't occur before he was wealthy, nor before he arrived. He and his brother knew exactly how to amass wealth themselves, and as such, he was able to give to the United States instead of taking from it. The gov't saw a way for ELON to HELP this country AND, SUBSEQUENTLY, THE GOV'T. That's why they gave him what he needed.

So I asked ChatGPT to run a quick comparison of Tesla and BYD. I don’t think people talk enough about the ridiculousness of Tesla market cap relative to sales and earnings and what that says about Wall street and individual investors. This to me highlights the rot and belligerence in the American system vs the rational and sober Chinese economic system.

Tesla vs. BYD Comparison (Q3 2024)

Market Cap:

• Tesla: $1.37 trillion

• BYD: $108.16 billion

• P/E Ratio:

• Tesla: 125

• BYD: 39.2

Revenues:

• Tesla: $25.18 billion

• BYD: $28.2 billion

Vehicle Sales:
• Tesla: 462,890 EVs delivered
• BYD: 443,426 BEVs + 691,000 plug-in hybrids (total: 1.1 million NEVs)

Growth:

• Tesla’s revenue continues to rise but faces stiff competition.

• BYD surpassed Tesla in revenue for the first time, driven by strong hybrid and EV sales.

Would they be able to do it in a multi racial society like America though?
Nope. America has nations within the nation. Also, Confucianism is the foundation of Chinese society.

America's individualism and "fukk you I do what I want" philosophy will never work like that.
