Problem is Trump isn’t from Manhattan or was accepted by the Manhattan crowd (Mike Bloomberg made fun of him for it). Gavin Newsome is very much accepted by the San Francisco/west coast elites.

If Trump isn't from NYC where is he from?

I like Newsome a lot but his aura is way too costal to pull out wins In Pennsylvania, North Carolina & Michigan.
Democrats never have issues winning those states. How many times I'm I going to have to tell you Trump won because people stayed home and that he won by the thinnest of margins?

Better question here is why do you think Gavin is gonna get the nod over Kamala??

She got that VP position for a reason and they want her up next IMO
if she can make it through the primary why not?
She has no charisma and that will be a problem. The 2020 vote was not a Biden vote. It was an anti-Trump vote.

It's important that dems have a candidate who is willing to go into the sewage with Trump since that's where he thrives. Newson strikes me as someone who is willing to play in the dirt.

Black women will not vote against Kamala Harris in a primary. Even if you tell them she has no chance to win a national election. Thats partly why she would win a primary besides being the sitting Vice President. Then they'll be upset on election night when she loses.

I think Gavin so far is the best choice out of the Dems, but that's not saying much. :francis:Desantis will just point at San Francisco and ask swing state voters if they want to become like that ($3000 rent, dirty streets, crime):francis:
And you think Newsome not going to point out Deathsantis literally killing people because Florida was out of the Covid treatments… Literalky had cacs on the ground screaming in pain in Jacksonville.. Newsome will smoke the shyt out of DeSantis.. Don’t know if y’all realize Newsome actually want smoke with the gop

this doesnt seem to be connected to reality at all. BW didnt show up for her in the primaries last time and anecdotally, no black woman i know even seems to like her. i saw more emotion for ketanji brown jackson during the little bit of time she was on the national scene than i did for kamala in the last 3 years.

Kamala in 2020 is different than sitting Vice President Kamala Harris. I don't see them passing up an opportunity to see the first black female President.

If Kamala was a disaster in the primary, which is likely because she's pretty awful, that could change things.

This is what I was saying in the other thread. Black women (and older black voters) fukk with Kamala as VP. I can't see them not voting for her. She's going to be what Biden was in 2020 where black voters get behind her then the establishment rallies behind her.

Unless I’m mistaken black women didn’t vote for her in the primaries and was the first to highlight her troubled past as an District attorney.

Kamala has that VP aura now tho. Just like being VP elevated Biden from a failed presidential candidate to black people's number 1 choice.

She is a disaster. She doesn’t connect to anyone and as VP she’s done nothing of note, which is expected from the VP, but at least if she were in congress she could be out in front loudly leading the senate Dems. The black female vote isn’t going two swarm to her, let alone the general black vote. If the Dems let a real primary happen she’s gonna be looking like 2020, only thing going for her is the Dems seem to have no one in the pipeline and Newsom seems to be the only one slowly trying to build a national profile

No, Biden literally looked like a cool AF VP and actually had a swag about him in the role, when he did have moments for people to notice him, he was pushing Obama’s agenda hard. Kamala is barely seen, part of an administration with no cornerstone legislative proposal outside of a failed BBB and has had awful sound bites when she does pop up (go check her response in het recent cnn interview about doing more re: abortion).

Furthermore, Biden himself struggled in the 2020 primary and won due to being a familiar anti trump face that won’t rock the boat too far in either direction, let’s not pretend like it was just some pure enamoration with Biden based on being VP in the past
