i think the original calculus was that she was not a threat. i guess they knew he would be looking frail for the 2nd term and didnt want people clamoring for the VP to replace him. what they didnt bank on at the time was governors openly campaigning like this.

Kamala is one of the most hated politicians in America. She's embarrassed the hell outta herself since becoming VP, she's done.

I think she thought that would be the way to be up next given her very unsuccessful primary run, but everything is pointing to her being a dud in the administration and not having elevated her profile at all with the general public.

Problem is Trump isn’t from Manhattan or was accepted by the Manhattan crowd (Mike Bloomberg made fun of him for it). Gavin Newsome is very much accepted by the San Francisco/west coast elites.

i agree. but at least newsom's got the youth, swag and credibility to be a viable candidate. id prefer he was the governor of michigan, but hey

if theres someone better, i guess theyll emerge and beat him, because hes clearly acting like hes running. the DNC needs to tell biden behind closed doors that they'll primary him
