I can't lie this isn't a popular thought
but I'd rather watch a continuation of the
current story with some showrunners who have a
passion for it than a prequel. As much as people hated the last
season story wise the way it ended I think there's a lot to work
with if they wanted to keep it going.

I’m going through that hindsight skepticism too, just cause they gotta start fresh without the folks we knew for 8 years, but they had to make them relevant too. I trust the cast they got running this.

when we start getting Blackfyre vs Targ and (if this does happen) we start getting the seeds that lead to Young Griff . This seems like a golden chance for them to leave the door open for a Daenerys/Jon vs Aegon that’ll follow the book material without annulling GoT season 7-8

They have like six being developed, so them choosing to move forward with this one means they have faith in it. They wouldn't greenlight this if they weren't willing to put up the production budget, especially considering Amazon is going all out with their LOTR series. They have a sub service to sell.

I know this was an older post but they’ve canceled the Stark/Proto-Stark one and canceled half the 6 last time I checked. I think they’ll divert whatever resources they need to make this initial season stick, Thrones money and hype just means something different

Targaryen story line seems to be the one that Martin is the most interested in getting defined, so I gotta fw them choosing this over any other plot. I definitely would rather see the current cast get a proper ending instead but it is what it is

That would only work if that fat b*stard actually continued the story himself
