Yeah but is HBO gonna wanna give this the budget it would need
They have like six being developed, so them choosing to move forward with this one means they have faith in it. They wouldn't greenlight this if they weren't willing to put up the production budget, especially considering Amazon is going all out with their LOTR series. They have a sub service to sell.

this is the prequel they shouldve been doing all along

i read the other one already shot a pilot but no word on it getting picked up

i seriously doubt they'll do multiple shows

probably just gonna go with the most promising one

Perhaps.

But with them launching their Warner Media streaming service soon, they are going to be competing directly with all of the heavy hitters that have year round big budget content, particularly Netflix and Disney+. I'm sure they want to avoid the issue they had with GoT, where people would sub to HBO Now for three months and cancel as soon as the finale aired.

I wouldn't be surprised if they go ahead with two of them so they can have new GoT stuff all year. House Targ stuff in the spring summer and House Stark stuff in the Fall/Winter.

They just gave JJ Abrams $250 million for his media. I bet they are willing to dump a similar amount towards these GoT spinoffs. This is their Star Wars.

This time period is exactly what I wanted the prequel to center around. It won't have the same energy/direction as the last season of GOT, for obvious reasons. I'm optimistic.

They killed all the excitement around GoT with the last two seasons. These spinoffs should have either been released in the two years between between the last two seasons, when people were waiting for their GoT fix. Or they shouldn't have rushed the last season, so that people would have got a satisfying ending and were craving for more. As it is, this shyt won't do what they hope it will.

That model doesn't work. Look how it killed Star Wars. People are too impatient these days
