Laenor was in on it...but after re-watching the episode I'm starting to wonder whether it might have actually been HIS own idea.

He tells Rhaenerys that she deserves a husband, then they cut away. We don't see what they talked about next. Maybe HE asked her to bring Daemon in on his plan to fake is own death.

If you got two of the most powerful houses united, you don’t run into the issue where some houses are sworn to allicent, some to rhaenerya and others up for grabs. You got houses sworn to targset and then you got the ops. Marrying Laena kills a lot of issues, biggest being the infighting that threatens Rhae more than general opps ever could

The infighting would still be there the moment Laena pops out a boy for Viserys. Seasnake would go even harder than Otto has about getting his grandson on the throne instead of Rhaenyra. "This is an absurdity" speeches on DECK


He's willing to embrace the Strong b*stards and give one of them Driftmark just because of how much he wants the history passages to acknowledge a Brehlaryon on that throne and how Jacaerys is the key to that, imagine if he had a real one that looked like him sitting there getting passed over by Rhae

They did a good job of making Rhae go from early conflicted protagonist to a real annoying piece of work

She's the hot girl summer bytch that got kids by 3 baby daddies and still be "outside" and her rich daddy just keeps giving her chance after chance, lifeline after lifeline and she has no appreciation for it, in fact she hates him for it. shyt is ridiculous. But it's realistic.
