I don't think viserys will ever acknowledge that. He's too scared of war. His grandfather Jahaerys , the previous king, ruled in peace for like 60 years. And the only reason Jahaerys called the Great council (HOTD intro scene) was because he knew the Targaryens are the only ones that can destroy each other

It's why viserys Is the way he is, and why everyone around him are wyling the fuk out

Thus explains why Dany never wore targ colors...because the showrunners didn't care about that aspect

While I rarely turn down an opportunity to shyt on D&D I think it's unfair to say they didn't care about colors

The costumes are a lot more detailed on GOT than I think people remember. The variations and nuances are there, the colors just aren't as aggressive

As far as colors go I offer the possibility that they probably felt that a lot of the colors wouldn't translate well to live action and I understand that line of thinking. Often times when I see fan art of the books I think some of them color schemes look wack as fukk Imagine Ser Jorah walking around in bright green. The Lannisters looking like Hulk Hogan and shyt

Considering the risk of doing fantasy in 2010 when fantasy was largely considered corny geek shyt, I could see trying to mitigate the brightness of some of the color schemes. We see this reasoning all the time in comic book movies. There's a thin line between cool and corny. And that ain't even mentioning shyt like the dyed beards

Also a consideration to Dany lore wise is she spends most of the show wearing clothes customary to the eastern countries she was in. Her wearing Targ colors wouldn't even make sense till about season 7

The chick on the left is who they originally cast as Danaerys. She filmed the unaired Game of Thrones pilot that was so bad they scrapped 50% of it and recast several roles (Dany, Catelyn). She quit the project iirc after the pilot was mostly just her filming uncomfortable scenes naked for a show she didn't even know would get picked up. GRRM thought she fit his idea of what book Dany looked like.
