I think they are just doing extra of even giving us backstory in the first place. GOT didnt do any backstory at all. They could of done episodes on the tower of joy and roberts rebellion in the beginning but they just did flashbacks. The real show starts next episode. That way they don't have to do any flashbacks to catch people up.

It just seems yall looking for stuff to bytch about and the pacing aint gonna be the same as GOT. But I'd bet the pacing gonna be different going forward.

I’m gonna miss young Rhaenyra and young Alicent. A whole season of them was needed. Go back and watch season one of GOT. Very little happened. It was just Ned finding out Joffrey was a b*stard, fighting with Cersei then got his head cut off. They slow burned that season.
