That was the realest kid presenting I've ever seen.

From Beginning to End, how they interacted, mother and son, his older cousin, white teacher, natural hustle from his cousin, look of disbelief on his face when principal came into the classroom was solid fukking work. Not 20 year old playing 12..

I loved that they aired this episode this week with Kanye West struggle - he comes off has the young kid still trying to pass forward a struggle that's been engrave in our people for so long - at the end always trying to gain acceptance from other; and everything in the episode covered part of his life from - clothing, mental health, relationship between a mother and son, earn mother mentioning dragon ball black face (kanye mom being an activist)

He knew if I bring out the FUBU people would finally give me the attention

School is mental warzone for so many kids and when you decide to play sides like earn and his cousin, you don't know who you might be effected at the end of the day. Earn never tried to say the other guys shirt was fake but was never ready to sacrifice himself to protect him.

His mother telling him that a suit defines him has a man

That's why what Shaq said about BBB to me. He really means it when he wants black kids to be able to all afford something that is universally cool to everyone.

I also notice no one mentions how him and the girl who gave him his number went about it. They never directly communicated - communication issues start off has boys and girls

:ohhh: This shyt is a genesis for relationship problems

After first watch not really feeling this ep. All we learned was that Al had Earn’s back in high school. The suicide plot didn’t really feel realistic for the time period or demographic.

With that being said I’m sure there’s another meaning I’m missing. Was the girl in the class bipolar? I haven’t read anybody’s posts so I’m shooting from the hip.

Now that i’m thinking about it Al might just fire Earn...:ohhh:

Al all his life was holding onto his mother’s advice to always look after Earn. It was part of his “keep it real” mentality.

In North Of The Border Al finally let all that go. He was fianlly able to let his mother go, as well as his preconceived notions of how he should be living.

Which means he can now let Earn go:wow:

Nah its not a pedestal that shyt is real life breh.

If you EVER went to a public middle school the brothers HAD to stay fresh while the cacs could walk around in eye liner, ripped shirts, smelling like three day old pizza and nobody fukked with them:scust:

At my school nikkas had to stay draped in Jordans, Timbs, Air Forces, Huaraches, Brons meanwhile the cacs were wearing Vans and Converses. Beat up and dirty at that :francis:

I did NOT see that kid killing himself coming:wow:

Reminds me of when a kid would die that we went to school with. shyt would hit you EXTRA hard even if ya’ll weren’t friends because as a kid, you don’t think about death or even really consider the consequences of bullying. To us it was just roasting. You’d get roasted one day, come back the next day and roast somebody else. That was just life. Eat or be eaten.

But that shyt really be striking a nerve with some kids. You never what THEIR home life is like or what their struggling with.

shyt was too real.

Donald Glover just keeps proving that he’s unfukkwittable:salute:

There were three middle schools in my district. Three high schools too. But the town was small so everybody knew everybody at all the other schools. In 8th grade a kid at one of the other middle schools had a heart attack in class and died. Black kid too. 14 years old. His heart just stopped in class. Fell on the ground. I talked to my friends who went to that middle school and they said his eyes just rolled back into his head. shyt had us ALL fukkED UP. You 14 years old. You ain't thinking about death. So to hear it happen to your peers was pretty dark.

There was another kid that did go to my school. Played ball together on the school team. I still got vivid memories of playing dude everyday in gym. He got into a car crash at 16. Him and three other kids. Gone before they even became adults.

The suicide did make the episode heavy. I can't relate to every wanting to kill myself just cuz I got roasted

I think the girl represented that one student who never wanted to do work or be engaged in class. Out of all the days to be engaged, it was the day after that kid died smh

Also the juxtapasition of the white kid talkin bout wearing the same clothes twice in a week and Earn gettin roasted is so real. It's legit #2Americas like Bomani Jones always talks about

Me and my boss (black dude) were talkin about middle school and HS days and how you had to be fresh and the clothes we were wearing. My white co-worker was like "man i just wore cargo shorts and a t-shirt". We were like nah dawg, you had to have a crisp white tee, Forces, or a clean throwback, etc

Bro that's exactly the point

When it comes to kids or people you don't know

She could of been having trouble at home, trouble with herself, trouble with mental issues, trouble with the way people are handling her trouble, the teacher getting her help could of resulted in medication

Her behavior swing could be so many things but you like earn won't know, because it's not your life

There were three middle schools in my district. Three high schools too. But the town was small so everybody knew everybody at all the other schools. In 8th grade a kid at one of the other middle schools had a heart attack in class and died. Black kid too. 14 years old. His heart just stopped in class. Fell on the ground. That shyt lingers with you has a kid too. You don't fully understand it but you know something ain't right about it at all.

Everybody had 1 death in there school that made them sit back and linger about it for a while in the back of their minds

:ohhh: This shyt is a genesis for relationship problems

I always talk about the differences we has black man and woman go through while going up that really bridges a gap between our communication. This happens to all races/genders too.

marshall's on the low you can find some shyt back in the 90s man...esp basketball jerseys which i used to wear a lot of

The store he bought it from was definitely a Salvation Army. I recognize that interior. I’m not sure if Earn was lying or the show meant to portray it as Marshall’s.
