:comeon: You’re incorrect as well... I see I’m discussing music with people who really don’t know music... funk music has a distinctive chord structure and rhythm that ORIGINATED in NEW ORLEANS Wayyyyyy before there was a James Brown, George Clinton, or Bootsy Collins... those three and more EVOLVED the sound, they didn’t create it...

And I take back my previous post... Jazz did originate in New Orleans.

na, funk the genre was created by james brown from a mix of blues, jazz, gospel, soul and modified, new orleans parade drumming

..that's funk the genre but funkyness was around way before that in blues/jazz/gospel

blues musicians/songsters traveled all over spreading songs/guitar styles

The Blues were in those regions even before slaves were even sold down into Mississippi. Look it up.

The Blues were not invented in Mississippi. They were carried there. Besides that you all are pointing to a specific genre of the Blues, which is known as Delta Blues. Other regions had versions of the Blues too.

blues vocals were in those places, not the 12 bar and guitarists

12 bar blues on guitars was invented in mississippi and then spread to texas and louisianna. Blues vocals/field hollers were to be found all over the south. The blues you see in the yellow trail on this map isn't as melismatic-microtonal or riff based as the one that spread from the delta and nearby areas

The Piedmont style is differentiated from other styles, particularly the Mississippi Delta blues, by its ragtime-based rhythms.[1]

White folks called the Piedmont Blues some damn folk music and then they called it Country music. nikkas got confused and they assumed that Blues only exist in Mississippi.

Delta Blues are just a different genre, it is still the Blues. White people even shifted some Delta Blues men like Mississippi John Hurt into the Folk music category and now modern Black people don't even know that he is playing the Blues.

delta blues and mississippi hill are the oldest styles of blues. White people called piedmont blues, folk and country because of it's lighter feel than the delta blues + its thumbpicking-alternating bass style

it's the oldest blues style

White people even shifted some Delta Blues men like Mississippi John Hurt into the Folk music category

I explained why already

black people that know blues, know he's a blues musician

The Delta Blues genre cannot be the oldest genre of the Blues; if the Blues were already being played before people were even sold down river into the Mississippi Delta.

What the Hell was being played on the plantations in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia if it wasn't the Blues? You guys are confusing the style of the music being played in the regions.
