I like Conway's album and some Griselda shyt but this basically gets to a point I've been making for awhile. A handful of old heads gassed these guys up by LYING that they sound like 90s rap when in reality it doesn't. What noteworthy rapper in the 90s was predominantly rapping over drumless loops or super low tempo/slow drums and low bpm samples? Keep it a buck: nobody is fukking with that shyt outside of a handful of people. Conway's album sold less than 8k first week.

Let's get in a time machine and go back to 97. What was on DJ Clue tapes? A mixture of street shyt, boom bap r&b, and what we might consider pop rap. You'd hear TONY, Hypnotize, and the unreleased All About The Benjamins within a 20 minute span. You know what you weren't hearing? Joyless slow ass drums. For as depressed as DMX was, the shyt the radio played was up tempo as fukk lol. Now let's head to the Tunnel. You know what you're hearing? Phone Tap. Incarcerated Scarfaces. Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See. Mo Money Mo Problems. Big Momma Thang. Again you aren't hearing low bpm shyt there either.

These guys gotta reckon with the fact that they're 40 plus dressing like teenagers because they never had money until a couple years ago, and they make music you can't even play in a car by yourself because it doesn't bang. Not the drums, not the bass, nothing.
:manny:
Good music is good music regardless of age. The issue here is they only want to make music for a niche market, and are too stuck in their own way to see the bigger picture. Just one verse from a Nikki or a Meg or a Cardi would elevate them.

So how come an Eminem feature didn't elevate Conway or make him a multimillionaire

Where's West Side Boogie's placement on TV shows, commercials and movies?

How many movies have Slaughterhouse been in?

West Side Boogie's ppl were complaining about Shady for years and the lack of support. Conway was tryna get off that label and has now left. There's only Em and like 2 other artists on there now.
Because he proceeded to crap all over Eminem’s fans, and made smart comments on social media about Eminem . How can be expect any preferential treatment after that?

would it?

They've gotten verses from one of the biggest artists in the world...and it really hasn't gotten them any bigger mainstream success. (let's set aside the bytching and moaning for a moment about shady)

While a Meg and Nicki are a little more current/relevant, I doubt a verse from either would really elevate them like that.

I agree with both of them. Griselda doesn’t make typical radio friendly songs and the way the radio works they wouldn’t get spins regardless of who the DJ is. Complaining about it won’t get him anywhere.

Flex is a cornball though and a known hater. Hot 97 plays the same 12 songs over and over again like every other radio station and it has nothing to do with what people want to hear. The DJ plays songs the program director hand picked which 9 out of 10 times are from artists whose label paid for placements. Thats the whole reason people moved away from radio. Kay Slay is the only NY DJ that played whoever/whatever he wanted and that’s why people respected him. Hot 97 been trash for over a decade now.

Well Conway track with Eminem was his biggest stream on Spotify, however I believe the comments about Eminem’s fans and about Eminem had a bigger impact on his career..

I disagree. With a different subject matter, and one of the females i mentions in the track, it opens them up to the attention of a new target audience. Considering Benny and Westside Gunn are managed by Roc, I’m really surprised that Megan hasn’t been on a track with either yet.

did that Benny x Drake ever drop?

That might be the best way to gauge how it'd boost them

First off, fukk radio that shyt is all controlled by labels and to gas people on what’s “good music” supposed to sound like when it’s not. Second, Conway should just go on a run, branch out and jump on features and get his viewership up more. Then he wouldn’t have a problem.
