Nonsense
Like the dude above said, we(black folk) and Africa need to work w/ each other.
Africa is for Africans, first and foremost. Not just us in the states; but all of us world wide should be working with Africa, that's the best interest. There were some leaders in recent memory that encouraged blacks to come back to Africa(I think Idi Admin said black worldwide were welcomed back), and it's now on our part(blacks worldwide in North America; South America, Europe, Carribean) to invest in Africa(combine money to fund rails/engineers to figure out ways to mine our own resources/roads/etc).
When you look at recent history, Africa has been purged of it's resources by the same groups that want to "work with" Africa. It's safe to say, they want to do more of the same, take the resources; have low wages and ethics, sell the refined materials(in way of cars; cellphones, basically every piece of technology you need) back to Africa at a premium. There's no need for Africa to work w/ Africom/the UN/etc, when we can do the same and actually improve the land. It's just on us to get the ball rolling and make it happen.
there is a very strong reason to forge a strong relationship with the US because the US has the money and the technical knowledge that africans need to develop
one thing a lot of people dont get is that africa will NEVER get rich from its natural resources, african countries can only get rich when it gets the technical knowledge to develop its own resources
a country cannot get rich selling natural resources, natural resources are the bottom of the pyramid in this world, natural resources are sold in the open market, the countries that buy natural resources and transform them into finished products are the countries that get rich
african countries are sovereign and they should do whatever the fuk they want to do, but IMO their main concern vis a vis the us is having a transfer of technical knowledge and investment in exchange for resources and africom is a first step toward that
second how would african americans invest in africa if the african countries have a hostile relationship with the US? what ever happened in the past, its 2013, there is no benefit to any african country by having a hostile relationship with the US, the more american investments go into africa the better
and again there is no contradiction between forming bonds between black people and stronger ties to america, in fact those things complement each other
