So you're just saying that you don't believe in any other life, but if you did, it would be perfectly rational to prepare yourself for it. Okay. His quote said it was crazy to live in preparation for the next life. And since atheist don't believe in a "next life" hence the craziness to us. He's not saying its crazy to prepare for the future or even believe in something. Just that it's crazy to prepare or believe in something in the future that doesn't exist.
You're misquoting me.And you said "All religious people are trying to live the best life possible." Not sure how much more simple and naive you could get with that.
The best life according to quite a complex of motivations, just like everyone else. I'm just pointing out serious religious people tend to live very much in the here and now just as much as they live for the future, it would be very misleading to portray them as only living for the future and not the present. In fact, many of Jesus's teachings state explicitly that you should be living as best you can in the present.Living the best life according to what? The Bible and not themselves?
No, I didn't say anything remotely like that. I haven't been insulting people like that here. And are you saying non-religious people aren't trying to live their best life or can't live as good of a life as a religious person?
The dawn wall was actually better in my eyes. The struggle. Tommy could left his partner but my dude was like nah you have to experience this shyt. That feeling of getting to the top was probably better than any drug. It's on Hulu. You should check out The Dawn Wall on Netflix too. It's just as good imo.
3 weeks up on that mountain cliff. fukking crazy. You can put a tent on the side of cliffs?
Idiot cacs, then they’re going to want me to feel sad when he drops to his death
Yikes so once again you are implying that you are better than me and something is wrong with me just because I’m not religious? Yet you don’t even realize that is what you’re doing.. People like you are everything that’s wrong with religion.I'm sorry to hear about your loss of faith. That's probably why you collapsed so badly against Clemson. Get better young man.
I agree, I think dawn wall is much better. Tommy’s the man his life story is so inspiring. Free solo could’ve been better imo. Honnolds girlfriend playing such a huge role was unnecessary and she was just annoying by the end.The dawn wall was actually better in my eyes. The struggle. Those ropes and harnesses are strong as fuk3 weeks up on that mountain cliff. fukking crazy.

I haven't seen The Dawn Wall but Free Solo was more of a character study than a movie about a climb. Honnold's interactions with his girlfriend are the key to understanding his mindset and why he's doing what he's doing.I agree, I think dawn wall is much better. Wouldn't really call her a girlfriend, more like a groupie whore looking for fame. He never opened up to her or anything and he just seemed annoyed by her 99% of the time. She was just there for him to have sex with basically. The only thing it accomplished was showing how awkward Alex is around women. Didn't reveal anything about his character at all. They didn't even dive deep into how hard it is to focus and do what he did while having a committed relationship. They could have showed Tommy a lot more, he was the one helping train Alex the whole time. Or the old rock climber that Alex talked to a few times. They could have done a much better job of showing his character if that's what you think they were trying to accomplish by having some random groupie in the movie that much. I've seen other docs and stuff on youtube about Alex that did a much better job of really exploring who he was and what made him tick.I haven't seen The Dawn Wall but Free Solo was more of a character study than a movie about a climb. They were together since 2015, she lived with him in the van and they moved into a house together How is showing more climbing with Tommy going to tell us anything personal about him?Wouldn't really call her a girlfriend, more like a groupie whore looking for fame.
