probably too little too late but Rel and Kyla Pratt had great chemistry I could see her being a love interest because thats what I think is missing from the show the dude should have a live in GF and his kids on more often.

Hold up Kyla Pratt was in a ep? I tried with this show but dropped it after the “Chicago gangbangers in the laundry room” episode but I’mma watch the KP ep.

That was the least worst (refuse to say best) episode to me. I thought it was because Sinbad's useless ass wasn't on it.

But u might be right as far as him needing a girl, maybe that's why the episode was tolerable.

Sidenote: What is the point of playing characters if you don't change anything about your normal self: not voice, not cadence (same goofy chuckle), not mannerisms.

This nikka literally puts on a costume and plays himself

Eh. After seeing a few episodes. I thinm this show has some potential. Rel has to grow as a sitcom actor and diversify himself especially if he's going to play multiple characters which in some fairness we've been spoiled by Martin Lawrences brilliance.

People on here hate Sinbad but I actully think he's shined in his scenes. Like he's a good fit for this role.

I will say this. I def miss the Carmichael show it was slept on.

I've watched up to episode 3 and I got to be honest, it's not Marlon level bad, now that one is god awful. However Rel is kinda crony so far but I do see potential with it. I also didn't know Jess Hilarious had a body like that on her :ohhh: Good gawd!

With that said I'm glad they gave the brother a chance but he has more work to do and maybe working with some other writers or getting someone who is an OG with experience to help executive produce this can help the show.

Rel did great on the Carmichael show but he just is not a good lead here. I agree with you that he has to work on his acting.

Just watched it.

Kyla Pratt is still fine as shyt.

Kyla Pratt is a very good sitcom actress and I wouldn't be mad at a show with her in the lead or at least as a series regular.

This show is still god-awful.

The last episode with Kyla was decent the only reason I watched it was because of her. If they were smart they would add her as a regular.
:jbhmm: do you think this show will make it to the next year?

Tru but People forget dude is going from 0 to 100 in a sense. Jerrod Carmichael had way more experience all things considered.

Indeed, that's true! He doesn't have as much experience as Jerrod Carmichael but at the same time I think Jerrod may have been more of a natural when it came to this. Rel has work to do if he wants to turn this show around.

What experience did Jerrod have before the Carmichael show?

Im so happy to see Sinbad back on tv. He still got it. I enjoyed the pilot...will be tuning in.

He had some tax issues a while back and did a quick tour to get his money right. That was about the hardest I've laughed my whole life. Lots of old head humor but damn that was probably a top 5 routine.

Yep I watch it routinely. Its called, "Sinbad where you been?" I believe. It is a really good standup.

And I lied. I haven't watched Rell since the pilot :yeshrug:

What experience did Jerrod have before the Carmichael show?
Lots of stand up work including work at the comedy store, Just For laughs in Montreal which is a big showcase, some white boy movie called Neighbors and his own Comedy special directed by Spike Lee. This was all before the Carmichael show.

Though after looking at Wiki, I found out Rel actually might have more experience since he been in the game since 2001, he did his first tv appearance on the show Last Comic Standing in 2007 and he was also on P Diddy's the Bad Boys of Comedy which I never heard of. So with all this said he has been in the game longer then Jerrod. Jerrod just has more talent when it comes to being a lead actor on a show and he had a more interesting show with The Carmichael show. It could be partly because he had an amazing cast around him but Jerrord also touched on a lot of social issues and in fact the whole approach of that show was dope to me.

Another thing I noticed is a guy named Gerry Cohen directed a lot on both The Carmichael Show and on Lil Rel so you would think the quality of Rel should be up there with The Carmichael show.

Should have did a spin off of the Carmichael show as Bobby. Bobby is way more interesting than a story loosely based off of rel. it’s a shame Sinbad is going to waste.

Agree 100. Show isn't good to me, but Carmichael was. Both are about the same production wise. This show is written a few degrees worst. As somebody said in this thread, Sinbad is hot right now to us 80s babies. He's funny as fukk, at least during his last tour.

Not sure what demographic this show is trying to reach.

Jerrod Carmichael is one of the worst actors in Sitcom History... Bland, Dry, stiff, no personality.

The disparity in shows has nothing to do with lead actors but in presentation.

Rel is a show looking for nonstop cheap laughs, useless interchangeable co-stars, has a father that plays a peer role (even wears a teenage haircut) and has the most random unfunny character bits.

Carmichael show was a well thought out show that gave a thought proving look into life's issues (social or principle) through differnet lenses (expressed by each character) done in a humorous, non preachy way (except for Jerrods girlfriend).

Not to mention the way the characters moved without the lead in the scene. David Alan Greer and Lorretta Devine arguably stole the show in their exclusive scenes. Meanwhile Rel show just had a bar scene with his co-stars splashing beer in there eyes to fake cry in a bar while he Rel was off scene :stopitslime:

Both shows are adapted from the 2 comedians respective standup, but if you think the difference was in acting then :francis:
