Maybe you're on to something. That could have been brilliant but the thing is that the Carmicahel show was canceled. Never seen a show that was canceled get a spin off but why not?Should have did a spin off of the Carmichael show as Bobby. Bobby is way more interesting than a story loosely based off of rel. it’s a shame sinbad is going to waste.
Im sure that would have worked out better then this and if they could have snagged Tiffany Haddish who played Boboby's ex-wife on The Carmichael show it would have made things even better.
Great analysis, that's why I said "It could be partly because he had an amazing cast around him". The cast he had was perfect, I mean to have Lorette Divine on a sitcom as your mom, you got to be an idiot to mess that up. So in that respect it is the acting because Carmichael show had a better cast as far as co-stars or at least utilized it's co-stars better.Jerrod Carmichael is one of the worst actors in Sitcom History... Bland, Dry, stiff, no personality.
The disparity in shows has nothing to do with lead actors but in presentation.
Rel is a show looking for nonstop cheap laughs, useless interchangeable co-stars, has a father that plays a peer role (even wears a teenage haircut) and has the most random unfunny character bits.
Carmichael show was a well thought out show that gave a thought proving look into life's issues (social or principle) through differnet lenses (expressed by each character) done in a humorous, non preachy way (except for Jerrods girlfriend).
Not to mention the way the characters moved without the lead in the scene. David Alan Greer and Lorretta Devine arguably stole the show in their exclusive scenes. Meanwhile Rel show just had a bar scene with his co-stars splashing beer in there eyes to fake cry in a bar while he Rel was off scene
Both shows are adapted from the 2 comedians respective standup, but if you think the difference was in acting then
I also agree with you that it has to do with the approach of the two shows. Rel comes off more about punchlines while Jerrod's show seemed to have more of a purpose and was more thought out which makes for a better show.
However where I disagree with you is that even though Jerrod may have came off as bland at times he didn't come off as corny like Rel does.
