The split is only a part of what makes the cash money deal so lucrative and unique. .. The other part is the $30mil universal gave them up front and the $100mil they got for the re-up...Basically they get major label funding, marketing and promotion while maintaining independent autonomy and ownership. ..The former is important because it enables you to actually sell significant enough numbers of records so that keeping a bigger split actually means something...50s deal seems to be more of the Koch model where there's little to no money from the label up front and in turn they take a smaller cut on the back end...basically trading smaller budgets (which means less promotion and ultimately less sales) for making more on the albums you do sell...

I have my doubts how ideal that is for 50...On the plus side he has the bank to film his own videos and work/promote his own records on his own dime..on the other hand, he's not really at a point in his career where he's gonna sell enough records to where the extra on the back end of album sales is gonna mean much...he's selling the 50 cent brand now and would seem to benefit more from a major marketing push just to keep his profile up...like puff ain't been a big seller for like over a decade, but he gets the labels to give him these huge budgets that don't really do shyt but promote the diddy brand which he uses to make his real money. ..but we'll see how it plays out

I agree....it's more of a joint venture from a product and distribution perspective....

hopefully he retains ownership of the masters and future recordings...cause as of now....it says that all his past material will STILL be administered by INTERSCOPE...

:ohhh: so Jimmy Iovine is still gonna eat regardless

My Pops Forever RIP
The Inc threw out the same sorry ass artists. 50 rebooted the roster.
with sorry ass artists.

It doesn't matter what he names it. The music's gotta be right. G-Unit hasn't done that in a very long time outside of Banks (and he's probably just G-Unit in terms of paperwork now because it ain't like he's reppin it anymore)

Key difference between 50 and a washed Koch artist, he rich as you said and most importantly he has connections to corporations so i doubt he's gonna be paying for all the expenses out of his pocket. Brand integration.

That's 50 for ya. Controlling the narrative.

All that sounds alot better than "Interscope has no faith in me and I can't get an album out, so they dropped me and I hobbled off to the valley to die."
