I think this time is different... the team can contend and have two guys on the top of the rotation that any team in the major leagues would want. They need reinforcements that are available on the free agent market.
If the Mets get off to a bad start, with no positive moves being made, Citi Field will be empty by mid-May.

I hope you’re both right. What scares me and pisses me off is the fact that.. let’s say we bring in Gonzalez (I’m a big fan of his.. not sure what he has left) and we’re healthy.. we can challenge for a wild card. But that’s where it ends.
And if we’re winning games, then upper management can always snap back with ‘look, we’re in contention with the team we’ve built. We told you we wanted to win.. blah blah blah’ and they’d have a point. A flawed one. Severely flawed.. but a point either way.
