Eh, I dunno about that. Dude has a knack for getting into the paint, he has a variety of finishes (Floaters, push shots, spins, etc), he's great at attacking aggressive close outs, using his body or the rim to shield off defenders when driving, etc.

I think Winslow really needs one or two moves that can get him to his main spots on the floors. If he can hit open jumpers, get a step back for his mid-range, and increase his choice in finishes when he gets into the paint..his numbers will skyrocket. I also need him to do the Steph Curry ball-handling drills :ehh:

It's funny because Winslow is surprisingly good at the stuff that older vets do to get their shots off. His decision making is :blessed:
What was his FG % from 10 feet and closer? I swear it seemed like he missed a lot of close shots but maybe that was the wrist

He's pretty bad at the rim but I don't think it's actually reflective of his finishing ability. For younger players, you gotta look at the kind of finishes they use, where they take their shots at, etc.

Guys play off of Justise so he's usually met with more resistance at the rim. It's one of the reasons why he's able to get those assists. Opposing players will get ready to snag a rebound from a missed shot or be ready to bother Justise who would then make a veteran pass to a cutter or open man that most players don't expect young players to do.

Justise will be a relatively good finisher and he'll only improve as his footwork improves. We even saw signs of Justise's improved footwork this year before he went out and how he was able to get to comfortable spots in the blink of an eye.

Look at those finishes. That wasn't Winslow having a great shooting game or getting lucky bounces, that's him using a variety of finishes after getting himself into the paint while finishing over and around possible defenders. He wasn't throwing up wild shots, he was just abusing mismatches with strength or quickness.

Winslow was 100% useless on offense. That scrub made 2014-15 Norris Cole or 2014 playoffs Mario look like Stephen Curry. He posted a .399 true shooting percentage last year. By comparison, the worst mark that Ricky Rubio has ever posted was a .475 as a rookie. He may legit have the single worst offensive game in the entire NBA. His best season to date was averages of 6.5 points and 1.5 assists on a 42/27/66 shooting slash. We should've tried to trade him at the deadline while his name had some value. I don't see him ever developing into anything more than a liability on offense.
Nah B.

I've said it before and will say it again: he needs to find a way to MAKE baskets, period.

Winslow has playmaking abilities that are pretty good for the most part. He just sucks at finishing himself. That floater in the lane he keeps trying while barely off the ground may have worked in college but this is the big leagues and he needs to finish stronger.

He has a great first step and can blow past most SFs in the league. His problem is once he gets past them he often does not finish. I used to question whether he was really 6'6" because of the way he used to struggle finishing at the rim. Most athletic young players 6'4 and above tend to love playing above the rim. But I think it's because his body type he's not a great leaper. Remember Westbrook had trouble finishing a the rim too early on. Dude was getting past people at will only to pull some bullshyt onde he got in the lane. By year 3 he corrected that and we see how he is now

Hopefully Riley's attempt to get Hayward will be the wakeup call Winslow needed to up his game in a hurry because the way I look at it Hayward and Winslow play the same position so he would have been taking Winslow's spot in the lineup if we retained JJ.

Barry Jackson: As one person who spoke to James Johnson said, his new Heat deal (which is fully expected to get done) is going to be big money, leaving little cap space beyond retaining Ellington in that scenario.

Free Agency, James Johnson, Miami Heat

Johnson’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, said he planned to speak to Riley on Wednesday night, with both sides eager to complete a deal. Bartelstein said shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday that he spoke to Riley on Tuesday evening and said they will resume talks in the morning. Both sides are working toward a deal.

Wade was absolutely good enough to be the MVP and had a career trajectory unlike other stars in that his prime was stuck in between Heat teams that competed for titles and that it was shorter than most star's was due to knee injuries. If he was healthy and on good teams from 2006-07 through 2009-10 then I'm pretty sure he'd have taken one home himself.
Very easily would have won at least one MVP.
