For all the posters who have well done steak, why?

I've read in here over the years about people having well done steak and tbh, till I was about 15 I did too, then I realised it was quite crap And got it medium, sometimes medium rare, just wondering have you ever tried a lightly done steak?

I used to eat well done and i can tell you from experience the reason

In my mind i thought anything thing less then well done was bloody. I had a very lightly done steak in vegas that made me feel like a cannibal. It was disgustingl. I finally found the balance and made sure the beef was pink and soft and wow, since then ive had some of the greatest steaks in my entire Life.

Don't order Well Done ever. I've worked at a few fine dining restaurants and nothing pisses the Chefs off more then a person ordering a Prime Rib Eye or Fillet and asking for it well done. When I cook I try to make it the best possible because it's my name going on it, but don't order a Well Done steak expecting to get something good in return. Most chefs don't give a fukk and will toss your meat around and no love will go into the cooking of that steak. You won't get that good sear or grill marks that make your steak look delicious.

Also for those of you scared of ecoli don't be. EColi lives on the outside of the beef, so when you sear it on the grill or pan it kills any ecoli that meat may have. The real scare is in Ground Beef because the ecoli gets mixed in with the beef and isn't just on the outside, but even then it's probably not going to happen with all the testing that is done at beef plants ensure you're not getting contaminated meat.

hell, I was making burgers at the crib on the 4th, and with the way I make them all thick, I usually end up eating them medium. but the wife always puts hers back on the grill. I still give my kids the medium burgers and they love it

I go to this wild game burger place where they only cook their burgers medium. If you want medium rare, they may accodate, but they won't even entertain the idea of cookin well done. Well done takes all the flavor out of red meat, especially lamb or wild game.

any amount of sauce more than a teaspoon is a disgrace to the chef, the meat and the animal it came from. children are stupid. its one thing when they drown their food in condiments. but its one thing that a lot of children never grow out of. thus you have adults slathering food with sauces and condiments that overpower the actual flavor of whatever they are eating.

What he's sayin is if you order a good cut of meat from an upscale restaurant and smother it in condiments, you've wasted your money because you're paying for the quality and taste of the steak itself. If all you want to do is cover it with bbq sauce or ketchup, you might as well save yourself some money and go order a steak at applebees.

But I don't know why he quoted me or even said it in the first place.

All the other guy said was that he liked A1.

All I said was that some people enjoy some sauce.

Somehow that's been turned into smothering steaks with condiments.

Ehh if you eat your meats well done only, that is simply out of ignorance

It is common knowledge that tender and moist steak taste the best, which can only be achieved through less cooked beef. When you cook something well done you are taking out all the moisture and many of the flavors that come with tender beef hence you are making an inferior product

Quite frankly if you eat your steaks well done only you def get the everytime

In fact I would dump a chick who only ate well done steak because that is a huge red flag that you are not an adventerous foodie at all. Something I desire in a mate

Medium rare all the time, at the very worst, medium (depending on restaurant/type of steak.) Anything past that, why even bother.

Different people have different preferences. I don't really like well done steaks because they taste dried out, but I can understand some people who do... and I've actually tasted some very nice steaks that WERE cooked well done.

I'm eating them the same way. I'm trying to eat a juicy burger. I'll take my chances.

I like my steak medium well and yes, good steak does not need ANY sauce and doesnt even taste good with A1.
