People mentioning Marino having a good game against the Bears must have forgotten that Marino had some lucky passes in that game too. One of his passes ricocheted about 30 yards down the field to one of the Marks for a touchdown. That shyt was straight up lucky. Marino did play well but they picked him off and hit him a bunch.

the 85 Bears only gave up 20 or more points 3 times too and gave up 10 total points in the playoffs with 2 shutouts
The FG they gave up in the SB also was cause Payton fumbled insider their own 20. The defense allowed 0 yards on that drive that resulted in 2 points.
3 playoff games and only 1 real drive that resulted in points

Nowadays in 3rd and 4th in long situations pretty much every offense will run out the gun to give the QB more time to throw in an open space

I was watching the Bills-Redskins Super Bowl and Rypien deadass lined up under center in a condensed formation on 3rd and 14

U would not see that at all nowadays

2000 Ravens and 85 Bears stylistically very similar. Scary physical teams with dominant fear inducing fronts with HoF middle linebackers behind them

2002 Bucs and 2014 Seahawks really amazing pass defenses and a lot of smart and also physical playmakers in the back 7

:dead: at you having to explain under center. More and more systems have qb under shotgun like 80% of the time or when the pass rush is so good/oline so trash that they can maneuver in the pocket.

That was the Chiefs formula. Great CB play with Chris Jones and Karlaftis helping rush the QB and linebackers to focus on the run and take away the middle since they didn't have to worry about double any receivers. I've been beating the drum that it was one of the underrated defensive runs in a while.

I agree with you, big time. They were similar to the late 90's to early 2000's Dolphins. Then you have an ATG, incomparable QB, with a HC mastermind. Very, very tough combination to defeat.

The LOB Hawks from 2012-16 are the greatest sustained defense in NFL history. The '13 Hawks have a case as the greatest 1-year defense in league history...

I'm so tired of mf's not giving the Hawks they due!

I think the 2013 Seahawks had a lot of depth on their d-line and had a really good pass rush/pressure still even though they didn't get as many sacks as the 2006 Ravens

But yeah, that 2006 Ravens D could be the most underrated D since 1978. I think they allowed like 12 point something points per game too.

2006 Ravens had double shut down corners with McCalister and Rolle in a Rex Ryan defense that thrives with just one shut down. McNair was broke down and couldn't throw the ball down field properly.

2010-2015 Joe Flacco takes that 2006 Ravens squad to the Superbowl and wins it.
