I'm not even bothered about the time travel stuff ever since season 3 when savitar said that the more they time travel the less anything applies
You know... I thought it was bullshyt just like everyone else when that episode aired. But the more I thought about it, it makes sense.
Each and every time a speedster or anybody time travels, a new timeline/parallel universe is essentially created. Now if a person travels back in time to period B to change something then goes back to period A, he's pretty much created a whole new timeline. But at the same time, he can go back in time to stop the old him from going back in time. But either way, once the timeline is created, it's there and there's no getting rid of it. And so imagine if everyone kept going back or forward in time and messing with the timelines. At some point rules won't be able to apply anymore. You can time travel a minute into the future and there will be two of you in the same timeline. Now what if the minute earlier version of you kills the minute later version? Wouldn't that erase current you from existence? No, because the current you is now in a different timeline. In YOUR timeline, future minute you never killed you. Unless you go back to your normal minute and realize you're dead lol. See how confusing that is?
The whole time travel thing gets weird, complicated and mind blowing. So it does make sense to not even follow specific guidelines. Barry time traveled so many times, there's so many different timelines he created. Which is why those Time Wraiths exist and why Thawne been telling Barry since day one that he shouldn't mess with the timeline.
