they got the perfect actor to play wells/thawne the nikka is a fukking gawd just shifts in and out of personalities on an episode by episode/season basis... nikka played like 4 diff characters in this one episode alone wow

I asked this question myself... the only thing I can think of they change the timeline when they went to the past. Season 1 Wells KNOWS, so because of him knowing and his supposed fate, he changed it where he survives and returns back to the future as originally intended.
