Love to see the family go out and get it
yep.png

Coli bruhs if you got something you want to pursue, make a plan :whoa: ...then bum rush that shyt

...and no you don't have to "quit your day job" to go out and get it :stopitslime: .....thats where your primary resources come from.:takedat:

By the way thanks again @Kamikaze Revy for recording feedback/advice on my youtube show ....been waiting on my new camera to make anymore shows :mjcry:
Not quiting your day job is the biggest thing I tell people, ESPECIALLY when they're adults with major responsibilities. If you love what you do, you WILL make time to get it done. If your excuse is "I don't have enough time to do what I want to do because of my job" the reality is most likely you really don't have a passion for what ever it is you say you want to do. When you have a passion for something sacrificing sleep is nothing to you. My long term goal is to finish my masters and then open up a commercial location to the public. I can't think of anything that would make me more proud (aside from my kids and family) than to be able to open a recording studio and provide employment for people with the same passion I have. I also want to create programs for local youth to be able to come into the studio after school and learn about music and business for free. Something to keep them off the street and doing something productive.

:ohhh::leon::wow:

how is ur mic hooked up? is it usb or what?
The mic is hooked up to an Avalon 737 preamp through a standard microphone cable. From there it goes into an mbox 3 digital audio converter through a microphone cable too, and from there it goes into the Mac via USB. The equipment I use is analog. It needs a converter to take the signal and turn it into something the computer can understand. You can buy USB mics but the quality won't be anything close to the same.

Your apeakers are appropriately positioned but twoo close to the corner...i would pull them out another foot or so!!!

Better quality.

I've moved them around. Right now they're where it works best for me. I'm gonna be building more bass traps though for the booth and the control room and will most likely move the speakers a little at that point.

so u plan on mixing everything ur self? will send some projects off to a master engineer?
I already mix the majority of stuff that gets recorded at my studio and get some tracks sent to me for mixing as well.
For projects that have the budget for it, I send the sessions over to a friend of mine in New Jersey who does incredible mixing and mastering.
His work has been nominated for Latin Grammys.
So it all really depends how much money the person is trying to spend, and for my projects, it all depends on what I'm trying to accomplish and what my budget is at the time.
I've done projects 100% by myself and others where all I did was record my vocals and sent everything else to other people to finish.

My go to plug ins that are on almost every mix are:

SSL E Channel Strip

SSL G Buss Compressor

D-Verb

L3 LL Ultramaximizer

The SSL plug ins are expensive. You can get a lot done with stock plug ins if you don't have the budget (or the crack) to get the SSL ones. Spending money on plug ins isn't going to fix a sub par recording though. You should focus first on proper acoustic treatment for your room. Upgrade everything else little by little. Worry more about getting the best vocal performance and cleanest signal and don't ever rely on plug ins as the answer to fix anything that should have been done correctly during recording.
