The story kinda reminds me of Spirited Away, which is one of my favorite anime movies. When was the last time an RPG had a really GREAT story? This is the first game in a long time where I really like the story and the presentation is INCREDIBLE. The anime cut scenes are amazing, the music is AMAZING. Performed by the japanese harmonic orchestra.

I don't really care about combat, it's standard RPG stuff which I'm used to and okay with.
In the sense that you have sort of a parallel universe, storywise that part is similar to Spirited but thats pretty much where it ends. It sounds like you are playing it just for the cutscenes though. Combat and exploration which moves along a solid story is why I play RPGs. Maybe the combat gets better but I feel I should be more satisfied with it 10 hours in.

I love the Wizard Book though. I read what pages I had available cover to cover. That is probably the best part of the game for me.

Also in terms of it's general quirkiness/strangeness, it also reminded me of Harry Potter for obvious reasons and I'm a huge HP stan. If you were to pin down the one reason I play RPG's its for the story. I feel the stunning visuals and stunning soundtrack come together with the story to produce something that is orgasmic to me.

FFXIII's story was incomprehensible and it made me not play an RPG since. Just the presentation in this game shyts all over anything square has done since FFX. I haven't even read the book yet :ohhh: Ima check it out
:to: Its still real to me dammit.
it hurts you just as much as it hurts me bruh beleedat :to: squaresoft was our childhood breh

this game takes me back to those days tho :ahh:

I said it was a mixture of all three. It takes the aspect of Kingdom Hearts in regards that you are free to move around while engaging the enemy and doing so helps you dodge attacks and stuff like that.

Lets not spoil any of the story for the brehs tho :mjpls:

:ohhh: I never played a lot of rpg's outside of kh and ff so I didn't know that was a standout combat system

:manny: I aint really spoil much....

But when they told me I could fly that fukking dragon I was :whoo::whoo::whoo: :krs:

:whew:

Yeah, I own it. Overall a great game. Your teammate AI is kind of disappointing at certain times, but it doesn't detract from the overall quality that much

I love this game man, I been doing everything there is to do in this game. But yeah the teammate AI is annoying sometimes, wasting mp healing when I don't need it.

I'm at level 85 with Oliver, I'm trying to get to at least 95 before I fight the final boss and the S class trial at the Temple of Trials just finished A barely at my current level.

If you want to level quick
go to Billy Goats Bluff and fight the Tokoto they give 3-15k in points The tokolds give up even more in the last area of the game

I'm mad that I just realized you guys made a thread for this.

I already have 58 hours in this game. Did all the bounty hunts, the "Rift" missions, and just need to finish a few errands. Also need to get S rank in the temple of trails

This is honestly one of the best RPG I've played in a long time and the fact I put in so much work just makes me remember playing good JRPGs growing up.

My only complaint was the childish nature of the game at times however, I REALLLY hope Studio Ghibli and Level 5 get together to make another game in the future. Perhaps maybe more a mature game maybe similar to Princess Mononoke(Ghibli film) in maturity. They would make a bomb ass long term collabo team

-Joe Hisashi's musicial scores :wow:
-Ghibli animation and stories (especially Miyazaki's legendary knack for fantasy whimsical stories :ahh:)
-Level 5's game design :lawd:

this game is kinda pissing me off. the chick keeps dying in boss battles. its like the boss does the super attack and she never blocks then once she dies i have to heal myself and can't mount an offense. worse yet not all the familiars can even block. boss goes into a super attack and you have a couple seconds to switch and block.

i'm level 20 at the volcano boss. don't seem under leveled at all.
