Finished the game. Fun (if easy) final boss, but I'm not sure I like the ending :patrice:

So he just decided to kill himself to get rid of the Eikons and whatever else Ultima set up? Or was he dying anyway?

Either way, it just seems like this game is a little too anxious to kill off characters. Seems like they're trying a little too hard to make it dark.

Overall I'll give this 8.5/10.

+Combat is fun
+Characters are good
+Story is good overall, although it gets confusing at times (not sure how much of this was due to me playing while high sometimes :heh: )
+There's usually a good amount to do
+Voice acting is good - some of the characters sound pretty pretentious but I'm sure that's intentional
+The dungeons aren't bad, and they make traveling pretty easy for fthe most part

-Difficulty is too low, very little in the game was challenging. I know there's a New Game+ but I'm not really motivated to play through the game again just for that. Maybe if they add some sidestories or something as DLC.
-Sidequests are good storywise, but most of them are boring in terms of what you have to do. Probably 95% of them are just "Go to this place on the map and fight these enemies". Would've preferred more variety. Also, the rewards suck. Usually you just get random crafting materials, and since the game is easy anyway it's hard to care much about crafting.
-There also could've been more to buy. I feel like I had plenty of cash most of the game, but there was nothing to buy other than music.
-I don't love the ending, at least that's my initial reaction.

Just got this game. Probably put 5 hours in.

Please. Someone tell me the combat gets a little tougher at some point.

I’m just spamming square. I could win all these fights with my eyes closed.

I don’t need Elden Ring but this is way too boring.

(Sorry and dialogue both incredible though.)

This is one of those games that you play for the story :manny: there are a few mildly challenging bosses later on but it's an easy game overall

There's a New Game+ after you beat the game that's apparently much more challenging, but I can't speak on that since I haven't played it.

Combat will get slightly tougher but still mostly the same. Remove those special rings to make it tougher

Is there any storyline reason as to why the level 50 hunt is available so early compared to the other lower tier ones? I'm a level 40 and keep getting beat even with turning down the difficult, but I'm guessing a certain Eikon will make it easier?

It doesn’t really. It does get more interesting and fun as you unlock more Eikons. But overall it was a bit of a drag by the end. An action focused game needs to be around 20 hrs, 30 at absolute most. To have completely action focused combat like this while also making it pretty much a 70 hr game just was a bit much for me.

All in all, I did love the game. Clive might be my favorite FF protag since the PS1 days and just not your typical JRPG goodie two shoes protagonist. Not trying to redeem every fukking bad guy he comes across. Felt nice.

70 fukking hours? I’m out. I fought Benedikta last night and I was praying for the shyt to be over. So boring.

I got no clue how anyone could sit there for almost three days worth of this.

The story is good. But if I want a good story I’ll watch a movie.

If it’s that Dragon then I think it’s just because that area opens and they need to fill it with something epic. I wasn’t even looking for him when dude just jumped out.

To be fair, you could probably beat this way faster than 70 hours if you ignore most of the sidequests. You'd miss out on a lot of story tho.

I love how the combat can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be.

Took a break from this game after I beat it and can jump in like I haven't missed anything using all the basics.

However, labbing out those combos I see everyone else doing is some fighting game difficulty type of level. Some of those juggles are crazy.

For those that don't know the Executive Producer of this game is actually a part of fighting game history as well.
Bodied people so bad with Zangief that they had to change his character :wow:

That's probably why there are abilities to allow you to cancel. Also the aspect of whiff punishes is built into the game as the parrying mechanic: you can time to hit the inactive frames of an attack for a parry or taunt into parry.

Includes some midgame spoilers, if you're past 60% you're probably good:

I did probably a quarter of the side quests I came across and did all of the monster hunts that were available to me by the time I reached the final mission. But that was only like 25 hunts and I believe there’s almost double that. So I wasn’t anywhere close to being on some completionist shyt.

I don’t even think the story was that great. It was solid, but I just really enjoyed Clive and how he wasn’t your typical trying to save every bad guy JRPG protagonist. Calling it quits right now might be the best move for you.

I appreciate the honesty breh

Life is too short to waste hours on a game that you don’t love.
