You're over powered like crazy. If you get bored at all just burn through the story missions. You won't have the slightest problem.

Having a great time with the game so far but I didn't realize how far I went ahead in terms of the sidequest. Looking at the guide I've done sidequest in chapter 3 that weren't supposed to be done until chapter 4-7
Once I got Noctis' Ultima weapon in Chapter 3, I started going ham on the quest. Plus with the experience boost you get at Wiz Chocobo+sleeping at Guildon Quay, my characters leveled up like crazy and I'm level 50 in chapter 5 just about to get the regalia back.

You'll be furious when you notice in chapter 9 that all that grinding was absolutely pointless.

That's the thing it wasn't intentional. I got caught up in the sidequest because for a few of them, once they are finished you can do another for the same person right after so I was like fuk it

I am on chapter 6 and I'm level 38 in my overpowered for the story missions to
I beat the entire story on level 30.
Once you get to chapter 9 you won't fight any random battles and will gain experience for simply sitting through chapters of walking around from point A to point B without swinging your sword a single time.
Chapter 9 - 15 completely negates everything you did prior.
