That's correct, it is on Android too. There's some event going on with another FF mobile game, so Tactics is 50% off right now. It's been a minute since I replayed it, plus I've heard good things about WotL, so I'm gonna grab it while it's on sale.

I've actually owned WoTL for years, but never played it. I heard it can get some pretty bad lag when certain techs are used, can anyone C/D?

It's true the slowdown is hectic. You can add a fanmade patch (on the psp version at least) to remove it. On the android/iOS versions, they tried to remedy it by adding it a speedup on the spells but it's only a bandaid solution since its still obvious that it isn't happening the way it should be

I always say this is one of the three games I got tiled for GOAT.....

But to be honest, I put WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY more playtime into this long after I put CronoTrigger and XenoGears down.

Years with the same game file.

Years.

When the first edition copies started going for 100 bucks, my shyt just turned up missing one day.... :stopitslime:

The other two are great story experiences, but you put them down and look back fondly on them.

Tactics is the gift that keeps on giving.

Using Guts on Ramza every turn as a monk, then one shotting most bosses?

Wizards with Math skills?

Chemists with guns and Knight Break skills?

Mustadio with Elemental guns?

Monks with Ninja skills?

Undead Knights with levitate and teleport?

Low faith/high brave point Samurais doing blade grasp on swords, knives, arrows and bullets?

Poaching and raising all manner of demonic animals (red chocobos with meteor, malboros :picard:)

Deep Dungeon?

So many options. So customizable. And whats even greater about it is unlike, say.... Disgaea, you never feel overwhelmed by it all.

Truly the GOAT game. :mjcry:

I slept HARD on this joint :wow:

Any advice for a first-time player? I just finished the second map where Algus first shows up. Still very early in the game.

Get the official,strategy guide

And GRIND, GRIND, GRIND by going into random battles and get new levels and job classes. Money is hard to come by, so get someone to the Thief job, and learn "steal gil". Use that ability against monsters often, cause it will gain you more money .That ability will gain you enough money to buy lots of Phoenix Downs and Potions and equipment to buy better weapons and armor.

Have at least 1 chemist in the battlefield and have Ramza become a knight job class with "item" job ability to heal himself with potions. Make sure everyone at your units are at least level 15 (!) Before the next story battle (Dorter Trade City or Sweeney Woods), and go up at least 1-2 levels before entering any future story battle for Chapter 1. Again, random battles, learn new abilities, steal him ability from thief, stack gil, buy better equipment, NEVER let your units crystallize (permanent death), on top of being 10 to 12 levels above anyone in a story battle.

Hope that helps. Always stack and prioritize on staying ahead of the curve.

Make sure you save often, because some of those random encounters are unforgivable :francis:
Also, remember this if you get to a place call Riovanes Castle create another save file before proceeding because once you start you cant save your game
and it has the hardest battle in the game :mjcry:

Riovanes was the most frustrating battle to get through..them fukking assassins were giving me fits before I could even get to Elmdore. I think I lost every one but Ramza and my brolic ass black mage when I finally got past the roof level.

I remember when I was playing..I literally took a month and a half from progressing through the story to build up. I had a black mage maxed out with time mage abilities maxed out, a priest maxed with oracle abilities maxed out. If I had both of them nikkas out..nikkas were getting hit with spells with black mage while I had my priest casting shyt on the team to bolster defenses or go kamikaze on offense when needed.

I'm going to disagree with the brehs pushing you to grind. You don't have to grind at all to beat FFT. There's a couple miss-able characters that you can recruit that you could maybe want to use a guide to make sure you get but otherwise for your first playthrough you don't need a guide :manny:

The only thing I've seen which I think you 100% need to take into consideration from is do not overwrite your only save in any multi-part castle/dungeon/etc.

Best to do it at Chapter 1, to grind and get new job classes. I had Ramza reach level 8 Knight, Level 6 archer, Level 8 Monk, Level 8 Thief, and gained the Ninja job class. Had him gain the "Counter" reaction ability from Monk, had "Move + 2" from Thief on top of steal Weapon, Steal Armor, Steal Accessory, and Steal Helmet, along with my other (Male) unit from my party the same thing.

Having Counter, Move+2, Concentrate, Poach, as a Knight with Ramza was :whew: for Chapter 1. By Chapter 2, Ramza's Squire Class has the ability to have heavy Armor, shield, and Helmets like a Knight.

Anothwe MASSIVE tip is right before the last major Battle in Chapter 1, is that random battles in Mandalia Plains have humans in it sometimEs. If you check their equipment, they have some BEAST Equipment that not available to buy until (much) later in the game. This is when you need someone other than Ramza with Steal ability that already learned Steal Weapon, Steal Armor, Steal Shield, Steal Helmet. Ramza, as a Knight, should learn the ability to "Break Power" to break down any enemy's strength so that their attacks dont do devastating blows on your party members. Also have 1 or 2 Chemists to heal party members in need.

Basically, it will take a lot of time before you able to steal their Weapons or anything of their equipment successfully, so be prepared for the long haul. Once you do take it, finish the battle, save game, buy a ton of new potions/phoenix downs, and give the advanced swords/shields to Ramza. Once someone In The party is equipped with it, if you go to another random battle (not the very next one), the enemy Knight has even BETTER equipment than what Ramza has. Rinse and repeat until you get weapons like Crystal Shield and Rune Blade.

Good looking out :obama:

Right now I just finished the map in the woods (still on Chapter 1). I have Ramza as a knight, and I've got a black mage, a white mage, and another Knight in my party. I have another character that's still a squire. No casualties yet, but I've definitely had to reset a couple of times because of the fact. These random encounters :picard:

You guys have mentioned black mages, white mages, thieves, and knights as classes I should train up. What are some of the better classes? Which classes should I avoid?
