wonder if there would be the same attitude if the Microsoft Activision deal falls through and Microsoft took that $65 billion that would have bought the company and cut a profit sharing exclusive deal with Activision to only release games on Xbox and PC for the next 8 years once current agreements expire.

What a pleasant dream :ahh:

Microsoft already gobbled up a publisher and are makign all their future games exclusives so no one is really going to care either way. Sony is leveraging their market power to get deals microsoft is buying out entire publishers for.

Sony is doing both and has been since they got in the console game.
There just was never any competition AT ALL until MS started doing the same.

Sony hasn’t bought any publishers, sony is smart to protect their closest japanese partnerships. Fromsoft, Square Enix, etc.

The last thing they should be doing is let microsoft gobble up all the big 3rd party rpg publishers and not secure anything of their own. If they were smart they’d acquire CDPR also

Microsoft is partially responsible for Sony's ability to buy out their share of a franchise like Final Fantasy. Microsoft's incompetence in this field is what helped Sony achieve it's present dominance. In the fever dream what was the Xbox 360 for a single generation Microsoft was halfway competent for a section of it but were more than willing to burn up whatever good will they established on Kinect and living room integration with TV crap.

Sony on a level seeks to create the best home game console on the market. Microsoft either doesn't seek that or doesn't understand how to go about doing that. They're big tech they just establish a monopoly in a specific field and leverage that marketshare and the insane profits they get from it to buy out companies in other fields to expand.

Big tech for the most part can't really organically create products from the ground up. They rely on mergers and acquisitions to have continued success. Unfortunately for them mergers and acquisitions with no real vision at the top while facing a competitor that has vision leads to Xbox being in the exact position it's in.

With streaming not getting the returns companies thought they would, how do you think this affects Game pass?

IMO they’ve yet to even deliver on the promise of what Game Pass could be. Right now it’s just a bunch of old games, indie games, and AA games. They barely release any notable AAA games. The fact that they’re able to grow it at all is impressive to me.

How many triple A games release a year compared to all other games?

It’s like Netflix. What’s Game Pass Squid Game, Stranger Things, or Wednesday? You need those flagship series that draw attention to the service. They got like 20 something odd studios. It’s time to get some high profile meaningful content that draws eyeballs and stop playing this low value lane. They gonna need like a 3-4 major titles a year mixed into this service.

They gonna need to have an output where people stop joking about Xbox having no games. When people feel like Xbox has must play games we will see how well Game Pass can really grow. Until then I would expect low numbers.

Ideally a big AAA game every quarter maybe one being a live service type game for prolonged play.

Most of those games you listed are either old or were at least a year old when they came to Game Pass. It can't be just Halo, Forza, Gears and outside of that old games or indie titles. What huge major titles did Microsoft even release last year?

I applaud MLB The Show and Monster Hunter . Those were good gets. There needs to be more notable titles that hit the service day 1 like that.

I mean you can sit back and act like that list you posted is impressive but most people around here already owned many of those games before they even came to Game Pass.

When ever you constructing a list that's supposed to be impressive and Anthem is included that's a self own. You're knowingly scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Yes as usual.

You tell an outright and demonstrable lie.

Then you hold on to one game to discredit everything there.

Your opinion on one game on that list doesn’t matter.
