Manchin is a whole clown. He wants to pass the Republican agenda, he'll work wholeheartedly on that.

Let's bet nothing happens until the Dems lose the senate, and then we'll see Manchin trying to get his Dem colleagues to work with Republican friends.

Dems don't deserve power.

The problem is the dems are a shyt party. That's why they can't win a clean majority and have people like Machin running things. He has to be who he is given the state that elected him. He's better than a republican holding that seat either way.

Can't have presidency, house and senate and go to the electorate in 2 years talking about Republicans. That's how you get washed

There's really nothing they can do. Once you accept the fact that the democrats are the enemy of the republicans but the republicans aren't the enemy of the democrats it all makes sense.

The democrats and republicans overlap on certain things and the republicans will work together with them on those things. Everything else the republicans block, obstruct, and derail. Those things they stop tend to be the things that help the general public at large over the rich elite. Because the republicans are united entirely when they get power they push their pro rich elite agenda through smoothly. That's all they really do. When the democrats align they help that cause and when they don't they get steamrolled and blamed for the failure to set policies that help everyone else.

In the end the democrats are held to a standard and expected to actually govern in a way that helps everyone. The republicans aren't held to any standard and can do whatever. When the republicans mess up everything really bad people run back to the dems briefly but that's always short lived. Mostly because the dems aren't fully unified and because they can't count on the republicans for shyt.

This is unlikely to ever change. The republicans have a large block of low information voters that aspire to be more than they currently are but fall short. These voters easily fall for the propaganda the republican party pushes out. The dems aren't getting those voters.

Typical democrat move, remove senate rules right when the republicans are going to assume a majority, like when Harry Reid made cabinet and federal judges a simple majority over the then three fifths rule.

And the establishment claim controlled opposition is a conspiracy theory.

So you've fallen for McConnell's fear-mongering.

The Democrats are going to lose the Senate if they don't pass anything substantial, especially the voting rights bills. Basically, McConnell indirectly controls the senate, due to the filibuster.

exactly, now is the time to do this, Biden just got started and Dems just got control of House/Senate. if not now, when? and if not now, is the proposal here to just give up and indefinitely yield minority control to McConnell? that’s gutless

exactly if the dems had any inkling of courage they would do it and quite honestly if they did it and passed some legit legislation there is a possibility dems would ever lose few seats going forward. but history tells us they live in fear of GQP's fear mongering and also in fear of no fillibuster means they then have to answer tough questions on their votes if they're the 51st vote.

but if the snapping turtle is talking this shyt down that means there must be serious talk about switching to a "talking fillibuster" which id be okay with for the time being
