It's a bit different in regards to expectations. The democrats have to actually pass new legislation, but the conservatives don't have to do much other than tax cuts. They don't even need 60 votes to pass derugulation, all they need are executive orders, defunding and placing the right personnel in enough government agencies like the IRS to slow everything to a crawl.

So republicans maintain their coalition base without having to do much more than please their donors but democrats have to demonstrate their virtue by passing or at least "trying" to pass legislation or they will lose coalition. Except for black voters, democrats will never pass legislation that asymmetrically benefits black voters but they'll still get the votes.
The republican party all falls in line. There isn't much infighting like with the dems. Even the moderate republican acts of protest are controlled and calculated so that they don't damage the core agenda. They'll let moderate republican members vote against the party knowing full well it won't effect the outcome.

Democrats have nothing but infighting. No cohesive direction. They undermine themselves on every major issue and almost nobody walks away pleased except the moderates. The public isn't satisfied with how the moderates water everything down. The moderates and the republicans destroy everything the democrats attempt to accomplish.

It’s amazing how little interest the left has in protecting their policies...
The GOP has a long history of sabotaging and making gov run ineffectively/inefficiently, promoting the idea that gov doesn’t work... and still Dems think if we just pass our bills and let rethugs do what they want when they have power, we will win out:heh:
Dems really do suck at governing.

Y’all never gonna get tired of saying “it would have been fine/was working fine but rethugs...”:heh:

huge development from Manchin

let’s see where this goes, but i still think he can be flexible on this and not get in the way of the overarching Dem agenda

we can point to previous quotes from Manchin all day, but we all know senators shift positions ALL the time
