Thinking Blatter gave Qatar the World cupIs putting the world cup in a place not even remotely capable of handling them actually doing any good for that country? It's not like he's building these stadiums out of the goodness of his heart.
He's building the stadiums in places that don't need them, then giving the deed to the FIFA representative, who then gets rent from that country's government. He's doing good for the representatives of smaller countries no doubt, but I'm not sure that building giant empty structures does any sustainable good for a country.
