I could upgrade to Google Fiber but I am geting 300mb at $50.00 a month from Spectrum/Time Warner. Once this promotional period is up though, I plan on making the switch.

My breh in ATL up here talking about he wanted to get a full 1GB download. On top of that he said his wifi is 600Mbps down. I'm up here like really? Probably got Cat 7 Spec 2 cables in the house.

Those with fiber in here, do they give you a special modem for it? What cables run from the house to the modem? Are they different from the coax and dsl cables?

Must be nice. The internet speed here in the UK is slow as fukk generally speaking:beli:. The fastest theoretical speed one can currently get here is around 600mbs and that's usually only accessible to businesses and private residential and it's expensive as shyt.

They gave us a different modem from what we originally had once we got 1gig, probably something that allows for higher speeds, though I don't think it's anything too special or crazy. As far as cords, they pretty much run the same type of cords from the modem(ethernet...cat5/cat6). I'm not actually hard-wired to the modem itself, since the modem is actually in my brother's room, but my apartment has ethernet ports all throughout it, including in my room that I can plug into and it gives me equal performance as being hard-wired directly to the router.
