What is in the photos matches up with what all my parents and grandparents experienced. Matches up with the experiences of older Africans from other parts of Africa as well. Also, you are LITERALLY trying to argue against actual proof with anecdotal evidence. That makes no sense at all.

I get tired of self-hating Africans trying to save face. Stay mad.

I'll post some more to make you cry.

Acting like Africans were wearing suits until Black Americans discovered the dashiki. :mjlol:
Are you arguing with me or Fela?

He was speaking on the mentality of people. No one said there was a wholescale dropping of native garb :mjlol:

Plenty of people think the Bible is the word of God just like the Quran. And personally I don't see how you can be a believer of those faiths and not think so. At least that way it'll make sense why someone follows those those religions.

You are just further proving my point at how religion can problems. Even though the topic focused on Christianity and couple of y'all came in with talking about "b-b-but what about Islam". I already mentioned that me focusing on Christianity is because that's what I know but Islam can kick rocks too. You still keep bringing up Islam :dahell:

You came in here acting like you were rational minded you can somehow ignore all the negativity in Christianity but at the same time see all of it in Islam. :mindblown:
And you and I both know Bible is not considered the word of God like the Quran otherwise Christians would be killing people for burning bibles like Muslims do

See breh that’s your problem again

You keep trying to use the worst examples of religious ignorance and extremism and make that representative of what true Christians believe and what the Bible actually teaches

What some people think is irrelevant to what’s actually the truth

You just love playing “devils advocate” to support your reason on becoming atheist

Clearly you used to be a Christian :hubie:

I’m showing you the difference between Islam and Christianity because you’re trying to lump both together as “problematic Abrahamic religions”

I’m refuting your argument and proving you wrong with every post and you won’t concede.

Still waiting for you to list the negative parts of Jesus life and teachings since “that’s what you know”

Fela was an entertainer at the end of the day. You're a random on the fukking coli with an agenda and an axe to grind. Y'all can go argue with actual historians and actual proof. I'm simply posting actual proof that tracks with what many people are saying and it throws the point you agreed with in the trash. Stay mad. :umad:

I will say this again, plenty of Africans wore their own traditional garbs in Africa before African Americans embraced it. It makes no sense to think otherwise. It makes even less sense when for your point to be correct, it would mean that Africans, especially poor ones who were many, disregarded far cheaper and practical fashions over one that was more expensive in Black American garb. It does not make sense.
Imagine seeing actual proof in front of you and ignoring it because you have a hate boner for your own people. :wow:

There's nothing more to be said on this point. You haven't even attempted to comment on those which is the worst part in all of this. Just putting your fingers in your ears and going "la la la la la la la". All you have are anecdotes and agenda-driven commentary. Either tell me those pictures are fake, the research from historians are fake, or fukk off. SMH.

Some people just have to be contrarian. Regardless to what has been said.

What he said may be true in his community specifically, but 1 man can't speak for 54 countries though, not even his whole city.

Traditional clothing in many parts of Africa was not worn just because Black Americans started wearing them.

You both can be right in different contexts.

Whats my agenda? Whats my axe to grind where unlike you, I own several businesses here in Nigeria and live here half of the year? Whats the end game for me when it comes to speaking on what I was taught by men who were politicians, one of Nigeria’s most well known journalists, and others who unlike you, went back to Nigeria to be part of the solution?

You think Fela was talking out of his ass talking about the mentality of Nigerians? I can pull up photos of my great uncle, the former ooni in full traditional garb . How does a photo speak to the mentality of the people?

Am I lying about seeing a child being shamed by people for only knowing Yoruba? The colonial mentality in Nigeria has a stranglehold on people here. I dont care to lie about it. These are among the least pan africanist people Ive ever encountered. The white man’s ice being colder is strong here.

My axe to grind is to erase that mentality when I encounter it here.

you are literally doing this with Islam 😆 You are so lost in it that you can't even see it.

I have told you numerous times that you have to point out the good and bad but for some reason you want to ignore and try to twist what I'm posting to fit some atheist narrative that makes sense to you your worldview.
The fact that you can't see anything negative in the Bible or anything negative contributed to it is baffling.

Look breh, I know you’re not dumb. Maybe a troll.

Everything I quote from Islam is directly from their holy texts which is the word of God/Muhammad

These are the GOOD Muslims who are following their religion correctly by the book. They aren’t extremists

I challenge you to learn more about Islam before commenting on it any further. You’re clearly ignorant when it comes to their religion.

I don’t expect you to understand the points I’m trying to make, but others reading will :manny:

And I’m still waiting for you to say something NEGATIVE about Jesus life and his teachings

See, even as an ATHEIST you still have the appropriate fear of Jesus and must respect him even though you don’t believe IN him as lord/savior etc…..

Just proves I’m right and you’re wrong :youngsabo:

But going back to Jesus.
You don't have to watch all three but I want you to at least watch the first one

It's not about either of us being right or wrong. The statement made by Fela and the video I posted of the African speaking are their words. If anyone thinks what those men said is bullshyt. I have no say about it either way. :yeshrug:

Whats the end game for me when it comes to speaking on what I was taught by men who were politicians, one of Nigeria’s most well known journalists, and others who unlike you, went back to Nigeria to be part of the solution?

I actually own several businesses in Nigeria as well and have one that operates in multiple countries within Africa. I actually live here (in Nigeria) most of the year if not entirely or live in other parts of Africa at any given time. That said, I don't care about your backstory since it does not discount the fact that you are out here backing bullshyt that has been proven untrue. Simple as.

The mentality has no bearing on this argument because that was not the point being contended so stop trying to change the subject. Plus he is just an entertainer. I'm a fan of his music but I'm not looking to him for any special guidance. The point is that Black Americans wearing dashikis in the 60's and 70's made Africans go back to wearing their ancestral clothing. The pictures prove that is not true, by and large.

Again, the simple fact is:
1. Multiple photos show that you and that poster were wrong.
2. Multiple historical sources show you and that poster were wrong.
3. Multiple anecdotal evidence from people within Africa counter your posts as well.
4. Common fukking sense says you both are full of shyt too. Ancestral clothing was the commonly worn clothes before Black Americans wearing dashikis. Just because a collection of colonized characters and c00ns and their ilk were waiting for Black Americans to tell them what to wear may have existed doesn't mean that most were on that wave. All that does is show what kind of people Fela, your dad, and whomever were hanging around rather than the reality of Africa as a whole or what was common.

No amount of talking in circles will change what is reality. Argue with those photos. Argue with Smithsonian, argue with NPR, argue with multiple historical sources going against you. No amount of talking in circles, pleading to Fela or your relatives will convince me since that is not hard proof. Just anecdotes.

That said, I'm tired of repeating myself. I'm just going to repeat my posts until you actually have something worth wasting my time on instead of anecdotes.

That speaks more to the people they were hanging around than actual proof of anything, assuming they are even speaking the truth. I've posted pictures and reports that prove they were wrong. It's the same way we can find some Black Americans outright bashing Black Americans but that doesn't mean those people are correct since there is probably proof proving otherwise.

Motherfukkers want to use anecdotes over physical proof and common sense. This fukking board is a literal cesspool of idiocy.

But going back to Jesus.
You don't have to watch all three but I want you to at least watch the first one

Currently watching the first video and got to the first point :mjlol:

I get it. The guy is reaching and lacking context. But it instantly made me think of situations where following Jesus would mean theoretically “hating” your family (or your family hating you) and having to separate from family members/friends

In this case what many Christians experience right now in SOMALIA

It’s not that situations like this SHOULD be the norm when following Jesus, but perhaps Jesus knew the urgency of his message and the risks his followers would take in making such a life changing decisions

Remember breh, Following Jesus wasn’t a popular movement

All the early “Christians” were persecuted and many were killed

Call Jesus a realist and even a prophet for predicting the future but I wouldn’t say this statement is out of line.

Now from your perspective, we live in a Christian nation and not many followers of Jesus will face the consequences of losing their families

But it can happen

Remember Jesus said,

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

For some people it’s a battle just to identify as “Christian” in their country, family, community, etc…. And this thread is proof
