3rd stone from Sun.
This is the biggest pile of BS that I have read.

How so?

Thats what Fela said in 69’.

“It was incredible how my head was turned. Everything fell into place, man,” Fela says. “For the first time, I saw the essence of blackism [black nationalism]. It’s crazy; in the States, people think the black‐power movement drew inspiration from Africa. All these Americans come over here looking for awareness. They don’t realize they’re the ones who’ve got it over there. Why we were even ashamed to go around in national dress until we saw pictures of blacks wearing dashikis on 125th St.”

Either way, I see more white jesus images here in Nigeria than I see stateside. And they keep asking why I dont go to church here.

All three Abrahamic religions made a bag off Black people

They all agreed to make a curse that was meant for North Africans, Punics/Lebanese, Syrians, Egyptians, Arabs and Libyans apply to Black people for wealth.

The Arab man has the nerve to call you “brother” and sell alcohol in your neighborhoods even tho you bore the burden of his curse for him. The Lebanese man owns various African economies as a thanks for taking the burden of his curse off of him

Crazy

All of the scriptures were man made lol from the Torah to the Bible to the Quran.
You can point out the negative in Islam but can't seem to do the same with Christianity. That is how religion blinds people and keeps them narrow minded.
Yea, I agree and that’s the point.

Man wrote down what happened. It’s on you to believe.

Only Muslims claim their book is the word of God verbatim. So not believing is going AGAINST GOD. And now you see how dangerous that is. Because Muslim leaders use the QURAN for their interests as if they are GOD (even thought it’s mostly man made lies and deception) or as if God is their personal Genie

I used to look down upon those ladies who had given themselves to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and I used to say, "Can a lady give herself (to a man)?" But when Allah revealed: "You (O Muhammad) can postpone (the turn of) whom you will of them (your wives), and you may receive any of them whom you will; and there is no blame on you if you invite one whose turn you have set aside (temporarily).' (33.51) I said (to the Prophet), "I feel that your Lord hastens in fulfilling your wishes and desires."

Muhammad also received revelations that:

  • allowed only him to have more than four wives (Surah Al-Ahzab [33:50])
  • allowed him to marry his stepson’s wife, Zaynab (considered incestuous in Arab culture at that time), after his stepson divorced her (Surah Al-Ahzab [33:37])
  • chastised his wives for giving him a hard time about having sex with his Coptic slave, Mary (Surah At-Tahrim [66:1-5])

I point out the negative in Muhammad (there’s literally too much to list) and you call me a hypocrite?

Now you point out the negative in Jesus. I’ll wait

Plenty of people think the Bible is the word of God just like the Quran. And personally I don't see how you can be a believer of those faiths and not think so. At least that way it'll make sense why someone follows those those religions.

You are just further proving my point at how religion can problems. Even though the topic focused on Christianity and couple of y'all came in with talking about "b-b-but what about Islam". I already mentioned that me focusing on Christianity is because that's what I know but Islam can kick rocks too. You still keep bringing up Islam :dahell:

You came in here acting like you were rational minded you can somehow ignore all the negativity in Christianity but at the same time see all of it in Islam. :mindblown:

Myself and my own.
No its not
Yes it is. You're telling me that people were walking around in suits or American clothing in the villages until black Americans started wearing dashikis? They weren't wearing wrappers and head-dresses until Black Americans started wearing dashikis? Seriously? :dahell:

Nigerian market, 1940. Not even the village either but a place more urban.

Fela….my dad, my dad’s best friend the late Dele Giwa (do a search on him) and others all said the same thing.

Argue with them instead of your photos.

Heres another thing about Fela. My mom used to live around the corner from his first club, before he opened the shrine. She was cool with his older bro who was a doctor. He played more traditional fuji music back then. She said he came back from America and his music changed being much more rebellious. He aint the one pulling things out his ass

I don't care what they said.
Of COURSE you dont care what they EXPERIENCED. You want to win a debate on the coli, so pictures mean more to you than the lived in experience of these men who lived and breathed during that era. :camby:

I get tired of Africans always saving face.

All the anecdotal evidence in the world does not change actual evidence in actual photos. Argue with the photos.

I have actual photos of people in traditional garb. How does that disprove the mentality of folks running away from it?

It doesnt. Fela wasnt lying. My dad wasnt lying . Dele Giwa wasnt lying.

I can pull up a video now of a teacher and kids shaming a child for only knowing Yoruba and not english just two years ago and at the same time post pictures of people on traditional garb. Them in traditional garb does not erase the colonial mentality many here in Nigeria carry

What is in the photos matches up with what all my parents and grandparents experienced. Matches up with the experiences of older Africans from other parts of Africa as well. Also, you are LITERALLY trying to argue against actual proof with anecdotal evidence. That makes no sense at all.

I get tired of self-hating Africans trying to save face. Stay mad.

I'll post some more to make you cry.

The other poster stated something untrue, you agreed with it, and posted proof of why you were wrong. You're trying to act like anecdotal evidence and limited encounters trumps literal proof and common sense and you're doing everyone a disservice letting such untrue statements slide.

EDIT:
Whole museums and NPR understanding the shyt I'm saying but somehow I'm supposed to ignore that. I'm supposed to ignore this shyt matching up with what I've seen first hand in pictures in these actual villages and with people I've interacted with. Makes no sense to me.
