Some of those bad actors are actually doing what's in the Bible lol they aren't twisting the words. You can separate the good and the bad from the Bible but at that point what is the point of even following it?

Muslims countries are oppressive because they let religion take over the government. Before the Islamic revolution Iran's government was secular but after it became a theocratic government. Theocratic governments are oppressive by the nature of religion.
Majority of China follows a religion. Sweden and Denmark are some of the most atheist countries, iirc, and they seem to be doing alright.

Just the little bit of religion that has creeped into our government has been a negative for most. Highly religious usually means conservative and conservatism has been a bane to our country and the world
