nikkas in the comments called Fat Joe, the John Salley of hip hop. Saying him being around legends (not including Khaled) gave his mediocre career longitivity and noteriety
Nah just you and a couple other people doHis opinion
Let's not act like alot of yall got whack opinions on rap ad well.
The answer is Kanye, and it isn't even close.I was going to say DJ Quik is the closest comparison to Quincy in Hiphop
I like some of Khaled’s records too but it’s gotten to a point where people feel like they feel the need to overrate someone to show appreciation to them.
If anything Kanye is the Quincy Jones of Hip-Hop
He just outed himself as not truly being part of .. lets say Soul music.
The thread of Gospel through to all the popular music in American music history.
You have to accept the central position of Black people to really be part of anything Soul related
You can come in like Eminem or Teena Marie or whoever but you can't then try to overtake it from Black people and attempt to do it without us..
Cause it IS us.
It's not IMPOSSIBLE for a non Black to be truly down, but most examples show "others" trying to co opt and divorce Soul music from Black people. Eventually.
This statement is as absurd as Flat Earth and it deserves just as much debate. Zero.
Just write Joe off
