"What they discovered contradicts some of the previous studies on the subject where it was thought that Blacks were about 30% white. They conclude that the average Black American is 17-18% white. But this is an average and it depends on the location. When geography is factored in we find that there is a wide range of mixed blood. The most African are those of the Gullah Sea Islands off the coast of South Carolina and Georgia. This is also a logical conclusion based on the history of these Islands. On the other end of the same spectrum Southern Louisiana (New Orleans) And cities on the West coast had some of the highest averages of white DNA at 23-26%. This is also not a surprise, knowing the history of these regions. Southern Louisiana was once settled by the French and Spanish. There are a large numbers of Blacks here who are more than 50% white. Many of whom would not be recognized as Black by most Americans. Migrants from this area moved in large numbers to the west coast rather than the industrialized north during the two great migrations. Here they mixed even more giving us the percentages at the higher end."

More. Look at the autosomal DNA which is admixture(not mtDNA or Y-DNA which are just haplogroups).

Again little Euro ancestry. In fact with more DNA studies ADOS are actually scoring more African. In fact Southern ADOS score around 80-90% African on average.

Agreed....I think the 20 to 25% I have seen on DNA sites includes biracial people that identify as black....15 to 19% makes more sense for people with two "black" parents.

Location definitely matters. Geechees and Gullahs are going to be much closer to 100% than a random breh in Seattle, Cleveland or Detroit.

Yea the 20-25% ones mostly include biracials but more importantly have a larger sample from the West Coast/Louisiana.

For those that are trying to remove the Blackness from Puerto Rico, just know that the original Modern Day Puerto Ricans (not talking about the Taino/Boriken) were Black.

Prior to 1815, 90% of the island was Black. Unfortunately, Spain realized the island had too many Blacks. They saw the Haitian revolution and started to get nervous. They wanted to make sure that didnt happen to them. Plus by then they lost control of all the islands they had except for PR and Cuba.

So to combat this, they came up with the Spanish Royal Decree of 1815. This gave Puerto Rico the right to have commercial ties with countries that Spain was cool with. They encouranged Spaniards as well as Irish, Italians, and other European countries to come settle in Puerto Puerto Rico (they were promised free land amongst other things). So you had an influx of Whites coming into the country. They built up numbers that way. They were also encouraged to mate with the native Black Puerto Ricans. So the country got more mixed as time went along. Then they made a one drop white rule, which said anybody with White blood in them could be classify as White. Plus then settlers/colonizers pushed their whiteness onto the mixed people and made them believe "white is right". All of that led to Puerto Rico being severly whitened to where it's at now.

So when people say how White PR is, they need to understand what made it that way. Our Blackness was systematically stripped from us.

If you follow some ADOS/Afram Ancestry.com/23andMe results you will find some scoring 90% and some even being brown-red bone complexion mainly from the south tho.

The Arwaks are still in Suriname & Guyana. Plus they're finding evidence that the Taino & Aztecs may have traded with each other. Maize was native to Mexico, & somehow made it's way to the Carribean. All Mestizo refers to is the indegenious mixture.

mestizo only pertains to Latin countries predominately in Central America
while
taino is synonymous with the Caribbean and South America including several predominantly black countries like Jamaica, Bahamas, Haiti etc.

Leave it up to NY nikkas to for Puerto Ricans. Just like Bay Area/NorCal nikkas for Mexicans. But Hispanics only for black people when it benefits their image. But Nuyoricans like Fat Joe only claim black so they can stake claim in black culture. NY nikkas will argue that Puerto Ricans helped create Hip Hop when many things in black culture have a much deeper history than Hip Hop which is barely 50 years old. And Fat Joe is a fool for saying all Caribbean Latinos are black when he knows he's not black himself. In the early 2000's when he was under fire for dropping n bombs as a cactino, he never once said my grandfather is black or blah blah blah. I've met Puerto Ricans who are clearly black looking like Carmelo Anthony or LaLa cousin from other places like Miami clearly stating they are not black every opportunity they get. All immigrant groups look down on American blacks. Even if these immigrants start off poor in the hood living around blacks, they always eventually show their true colors once they get some dough and start living way out in mayo slathered suburbia. The only time immigrants claim black is when they want to claim black culture all while looking down on ADOS folks who suffer from generations of direct white oppression that goes back to slavery in Amerikkka. Coli Afric00ns do the same by insinuating any non-African is really not black while claiming ADOS culture as their own when their own nationalities and cultures are still intact, but no one thinks Ethiopian music slaps or Ghanian gear is dope.
