Oh definitely. The good thing about the one drop rule and all that colonial bullshyt is that it created a strong pushback from black people in the states. American black folk look out for each other as long as they claim that no matter how bright you might be. Latinos still got alot of colonial mentality and we have a whole chart full of differences instead of coming together on what unifies us. I know black dark skin spanish nikkas that dont vibe with 'morenos' and im not talking bout old generation neither, dudes my age and younger. Its an ongoing conversation thats for damn sure

unfortunately - outside if nyc / NorthEast region, the rest of the country has no idea on race, nationality & ethnicity
i mean.... a year or 2 ago : a well known Black female Youtuber never heard of the Dominican Republic & said people in her community believe this new Love In Hip Hop reality TVstar / musician was in black face with a wig Afro

It does look like she is in blackface make up tho. Or she overdoes it with makeup but I always though the same.

My boy is Cuban, but grew up identifying as black American. He was only hispanic at home. But he gave me insight on how different the experience can be just going from being considered black to "afrolatino"

Haitians, and people from Martinique and Guadeloupe are by all definitions, technically Latino tho. They actually hit the same number of categories as Brazilians, theyre not Hispanic but they are Latin. The problem is will racist white Latin want Haitians to be considered Latin? Of course not they barely recognize black people in their own countries. The non Latin countries are only places like Jamaica, Guyana, Belize, Surinam etc cuz they dont speak any Latin based creole language. They speak english or Dutch based creole

This isn't really news for those of us on the East Coast/Northeast side of the country, we already knew this unlike y'all down south/southwest regional posters who live in a "black & white" world.
That english woman wasnt wrong but i see what your saying. We definitely have privileges that african americans dont in this country, and are viewed differently. But thats a viewpoint, the facts are the facts, and what fat joe said is the facts. We are a mixed people but our culture leans more heavily into african stuff than european, and we gotta stand on that. Cant nobody take my bloodline away from me or my kids idgaf if i marry a chinese woman. On some real shyt, people like puerto ricans didnt EXIST en masse until 200 years ago so i could see the confusion until theres a whole referendum and that may never happen it just is what it is
