Exactly, I never got that shyt til I moved to Texas and met Mexicans.I mean it's pretty obvious Latinos have African blood and their music is of black origin. When I lived in New York years ago we lived side by side with Puerto Ricans and honestly I always saw them as light skinned blacks. I never got any vibes from them at all.
Let’s talk about him rapping for 20 years and not mastering flowing.
They wanna be part of something so badly because haitians dont fit in well with other caribbean cultures aside from martinique and guadeloupe.I’ve been seeing a lot of Haitians on social media campaigning to be recognized as latinos
this is the complete opposite of reality. Everybody wants to be an "exotic" not black. The only time they want to be black is when they wanna say nikka or when they want some type of grant or scholarship meant for black people. The crazy thing is a black person would probably shoot and kill you if you called them latino. Alot of black people are ashamed of being associated intimately with anything latino/non black. A black person could be as light as a latino and break your neck for asking them if they're latino or mixed with latino.
why is it only ny where the concept of blackness is so convoluted?
Its deeper than language. The Spanish & Portugese didn't discriminate on what they wanted to run up in (blacks & natives). As oppose to the English & Dutch. The one drop rule & admixture of these two different cultures, create cultural differences along with language. Its nikkas in here right now that would probably look at a so called colored south african like trevor noah, and consider him black but take a lightskin caribbean latin person like zoe saldana or rosario dawson and say they not black. The real problem is LANGUAGE barrier cuz keepin it a BUCK, i grew up in the era where aa wasnt even fukking with ZOES like that, stayed disrescpecting them and claiming yall haitian you not BLACK black. The language barrier is what got yall fukked up in the states
You mean soukas? Post Vids broAfrobeat and Kizomba been making noise all over the world for a while now. It's in the U.S. that people are just now paying attention to it. Back in 2012 i was in London and wend to a couple of clubs there. shyt was crazy. Same thing in France.
But personally my favorite is actually Congolese music which itself doesnt fall under the afrobeat umbrella. Dope shyt tho. Ivorian music (zouglou) is pretty dope too.
I see we have an idiot hereHell nah. Black people are a special unique people. We don't like non black people trying to associate their selves with us. You're latino. You're damn sure not black
