I'd guess if this we're to happen( a regional pay scale) you'd see a lot of owners attempting to sell immediately and a lot less demand for these franchises. There'd definitely be residual consequences, ultimately streaming down to the individual workers.

I doubt it frankly, they're incredibly easy to operate without much personal interaction from the owner. A lot of these franchises are like having your own printing press. It's nothing like owning a restaurant, which is much more challenging and time consuming.

So what you're saying is corporate should dictate the pay scale for every single McDonalds franchise nationwide.

Yes, this is exactly what we are fcking saying. Mcdonalds corp, one of the biggest in the world, and a corporation that routinely receives billions in tax payer funded subsidies, should be forced to provide a livable wage for their employees. If they cannot meet this basic demand, then remove them from the food service landscape, and replace them with corporations or businesses who can. If they cant, then I guess lazy fcks who want to eat sht all day will starve.

Enough is enough with the 1%. What fcking good does it serve a nation to have millions working full time, and still have to supplement that income through welfare, food stamps, and govt. provided services such as medicare, ext? WHEN IS THE FCKING INSANITY GOING TO STOP, with labor bloodletting and comical economic distributions that resemble third world? We have no social mobility in this country. If you're not born rich, you're fcked. The American ideal is completely undermined.

These workers are pricing themselves out of the market. At $15/hr they'd be making more than entry level office employees, receptionists, furniture movers, etc. Most, not all, of the folks who work in fast food as a career, particularly the adults, can't compete in the larger job market. It stops being an entry level job. That's the best case scenario. In the worst case, McDonalds cuts your hours, so they don't have to pay benefits.

Outside of all that, minimum wage needs to raised for everyone across the board. That's the only way to force these corporations to pay more.

No one should be getting 15 and hr to push buttons on a register, or put burgers on a conveyor belt. The job requires 10 minutes of training and you're done. The only thing they should get a raise for is dealing with the public. Dealing with the ignorant ass self entitled public is a bytch in itself. But fukk that doubling of wages to do essentially do a low risk remedial job. :rudy:
Lemme guess. At $15 per hour their salary is close to yours.

The franchise owner absorbs it, not the big wigs at corporate. You can't differentiate that, maybe because you don't understand that business model.

WRONG. the big wigs at corporate absorb the expenses as do the franchise owners. how do i know? because i fcking worked at mcdonalds. the franchise owner gets a pre-determined cut of all profits. he absorbs costs just as much as the corporate pigs. they are in bed together. the enemy of the capitalist is labor.

Why are so many people in here :pacspit: at them for asking for 15 per hour? They KNOW they're not gonna get that. It's called a starting point in negotiation. Starting high leaves more room for improvement and to get something they can atleast live on. Just like with health care reform in the very beginning, people were throwing around single payer, and starting at that point got us what we have now. You have to start high.

Okay. That only confirms the fact that corporate McDonald's wants to maintain the profitability with increases in expenses. Whether it is a minimum wage increase, rises in fuel costs, rises in food costs, McDonald's doesn't want to get into the red so they will increase menu items costs. Every minimum wage increase slowly made its way into increased menu item costs. So, an increase of minimum wage to $15 will result in menu increases. The $.68 rise for a Big Mac is not realistic. McDonald's will look at their entire menu and see which items sell more, which items sell less, what their competitor's may do. Across the board, McDonalds, Burger King, Hardees, Wendy's, Arby's, Pizza Hut, Chik-Fil-A are going to raise prices if minimum wage goes up. Whether it's a $1/hour increase or $7/hr. the innocent civilians fat-azz mofo will pay the price.

so fukken what?? that means less people will go to mcdonalds. less fat asses. that's a good thing. cheaper healthcare. less sickness. and instead of raising menu prices they should cut executive salaries by 90%. fukk those a$$holes sitting in leather chairs in climate controlled offices. they have it 10x easier than the slaves working in the hot kitchen. you have stockholm syndrome

i was reading this article and it made a good point, it was saying how america has waaaaaaaay more restaurants then europe, we are actually really spoiled in terms of our choices when it comes to eating out, but the reason for that is that there is a huge surplus of cheap labor which makes it cheap to open and run a restaurant

so anyways it really depends on what society we want to live in, if they (and food serivice workers) got 15 it wouldn't be end of the world and it is sustainable, just not with the number of restaurants and options we have now

im not even taking sides i can see the benefits and downsides of both, but neither choice is a free lunch

once again, the capitalists of the coli are exposed as the pieces of shyt that they truly are. capitalism is slavery (and feudalism)
Please don't disrespect the memories of REAL slaves by comparing them to workers at McDonalds. Mickey D's workers cant just quit and walk out. Slaves did not have that option.

I hate to side with corporate America on this one but I think I have to.

Did you not know the wages when you filled out the application and accepted the job? If it wasn't sufficient money, why not come up with a different plan?

These jobs require zero skills. At least no skills that cant be taught in 20 mins.

You're hoping that these corporations will become "nice" and give up money that they don't have to. That is a risky way of living.

All of us behave just like these fast food restaurants. We want to pay as little as we can for labor. You need your grass cut. One guy charges $50, another $25, and a third charges $10. They all do the same quality of work. Now you can afford to pay $50, but are you really going to do that?

This protesting is a waste of time. They should be using that time to better yourself, like looking for another job or trying to go back to school.

Leave McDonalds jobs for teenagers who are just trying to get money for Air Jordans and bubble gum.

A pretty wrong and ignorant guess. Why cant you have a discussion with out attacking or being a dikk. fukking lames. but lemme guess you're one of those fast food workers with no degree and no ambition or skills in your life to make into a suitable job. Burger king is your last hope. See how that ignorant shyt works.......:rudy:
